Search Beyond Hogwarts:
The next Harry Potter: Back to the future or the past?
The Harry Potter books are done. Should J.K. Rowling write some new books that also involve the world of Harry Potter? Or, in the words of the Beatles, should she Let It Be?
And if she does write some new books about Harry's magical world, what should they be about? Would you like to read books about Albus Severus Potter and his adventures at Hogwarts? Or would you like to know more about the times of James, Sirius and Remus? How about going all the way back to the time of Dumbledore and Grindelwald? Or even further?
It's fun to read fan fiction ideas for these things, but would you like official books from J.K. about these stories? What would you like to see in the J.K. Rowlings's next "Harry Potter" book?

Reader Comments: (Page 4)
To Hollyanna from New Jersey:
The errors in question are:
1) Invisibility cloak that can't be seen through -- Mad eye saw through it in GoF
2) Hermyone performed a memeory charm on her parents, then just a few scenes later, the trio gets chased away from the wedding and caught by the eater, they stun him and suggest she do a memory charm and she says, "I'll try, but I've never done a memory charm before".
I don't have my copy of DH accessible right now, but there are 3 or 4 other major ones. read the article Dave wrote right after the book came out, people discuss the glaringly obvious errors like the ones above in the comments on that article.
Also, my aunts/uncles all live in the Western US, so I'm probably not your nephew:)

I hope that she writes more about Lupin and Tonks' son. He seems like another Harry Potter, with his parents like that...

"Definitely Albus Dumbledore. I would love to read about Albus Dumbledore's youngster years, his relationships with potters, his family, and of course with Grindelwald."
I absolutely agree with that, Dumbledore was the mightiest wizard ever born 'til he d, no one ever defeated him cuz when he d it was on his own orders. So yeah it would be really awesome to get to know how he evolved from a 10-year old boy to the most powerful wizard in the world.
And if not Dumbledore then I can't find any more interesting character in the book expect Snape. Dude, what a life he must have had, tough years in the school.. joining Voldemort, then leaving Voldemort and in some incredible way he convinced Dumbledore that he had leaved the most evil wizard and now worked for the good force etc etc, there is just SO MUCH to tell both about Dumbledore and about Snape.
I agree with those people who said it's enough said about James, Remus, Lily, Sirius, Peter even tho I wouldn't complain if J.K sometime released a book just about them.
Regulus Black could be interesting as well, but I don't think we know enough about him to make that book interesting, at least thats my POV in this matter, the only thing we really knew was that he once worked for Voldemort, then betrayed him, destroyed one of his horcruxes and then d. I dont find that really as interesting as a perspective of Dumbledore or Snape, but it wouldn't matter for me anyway, cuz I'd still buy the book whatever it was about as long as it belonged to the HP world.

I'd really want to read about what happens before the epilogue in the last book, after the last chapter.

i would like a book about
1. past, to know about the story of marauders, the creation of maruders map by prongs, padfoot & mooney, (personally i don't think wormtail would have been of much use except sneaking around on his friends orders taking advantage of his small size) as it was such a genius creation (they must've really known the stuff), Lily's change of attitude towards james, how they and Neville's parents thrice defice voldemort. also, the transformations of voldemort and the First war. Why and when people started fearing his name, was it jinxed during first war too? and why not, Albus Dumbledore, with his 12 uses of Dragon Blood.
2. & Future - i can portray in my mind harry playing a Dumbledore like role in a third war between good & evil (Remember dark arts are multifaced, if u cut one it can grow another, something like this, hermionee can tell correctly)
3. and i support the idea of Hogwarts, a history. then hermionee need not be the only one who has ever read it.
4. and any other story JKR writes with her HP style of writing.

I would love if she did a story where Harry's Children face a new Dark Lord or maybe some GHOSTS from the PAST
PS Voldemort was afraid of and those who are turn into ghosts eg:Nearly Headless Nick...I believe that Voldemort might be and would turn to a ghost who could harm Harry..Remember Dumbledore telling Harry about why Sirius could not become a Ghost in HALF-BLOOD PRINCE

I think that like any good thing, JK should let the books be. Every time someone tries to extend something with a finite end, it ends up going badly ( think of every sequel to a movie that you regretted seeing because it ended up being lame). She is a brilliant writer, and no matter what she writes next, it be an instant hit purely because of her popularity. This being said, of course a new harry potter book would fly off the shelves. But why push it? Why not let all the next book she writes be different?

hmm, i would like to know more about voldemort. i know that we´ve found out a lot about some of his past, but there are still mysteries to it. it would also be sweet to have a book about the whole albus/grindlewald thing. that really peaked my interest in the 7th book, and i would like to know more. but i wouldn´t be very interested about reading about james and lily and sirius, we know enough, and they aren´t really interesting.

You are right, Ali Akbar! Voldemort really fits with the profile of the deceased that becomes ghosts. Since he d in Hogwarts, and has such a history with the place, he may become the ghost of Slytherin, which could make an interesting addition to a story featuring Harry's children... Unless his soul is too damaged to even becoming a ghost?

after reading about half of these comments,i think that i have come to a conclusion.
j.k wont be rushed but once the final harry potter film is releases onto dvd and there is absolutly no more to come...
j.k shall write again - she admitted it herself but she didn't comfirm if she was going to write about harry potter or something completely different.
there are loads of interesting stories mentioned with idea's form other people but i dont think that she write in the past as even though it would make a good and interesting book, we all ready know a summary of what happens until harry's time. She could write in between the 19 yrs later but that really annoyed me because the last chapter means that there cannot be any more. Also i cant see another 'volderort coming around any time soon, not with harry as an auror so albus isn't going to be risking his life for something like harry has done in every book so far.
i'd like it but to be honest - i cant see it.
that last chapter ruined any future. that last chapted ruined it all.

Before ly Hallows, I very much wanted a biography of Dumbledore - to explain things such as where he met Fawkes, where he got his many trinkets from etc. But now, after reading DH, I don't really see a need - except for, perhaps, an explanation of Fawkes' beginning.
What I'd like to see is a book, set perhaps in the time of James and Albus Severus, but with a different character, someone who has to grow up with the sons of the legendary Harry Potter, and the challenges they themselves must face.
