Wizard Wrock fighting dark forces of the world
Wrock for Darfur, a benefit concert and event that is being held by the Harry Potter Alliance Chapter in New York, will take place on August 23.
Wrock for Darfur will be an all-day festival organized to raise both awareness of and funds for the refugees from the Darfur region of Sudan. Through the merging of the Harry Potter fandom and the Save Darfur campaign, the event will inform and excite attendees about becoming involved in the anti-genocide effort.
Performers will include The Cedric Diggorys, DJ Luna Lovegood, FutuFutu, The Fuzzy Lollipops, The Hungarian Horntails, The Moaning Myrtles, Nagini, The Rhodes, and Swish and Flick.
The Moaning Myrtles
In addition to the live wrock concert all day, the event will also feature a live interactive Horcrux Hunt in which participants can follow riddles and clues to find all the horcruxes and destroy them. It will be like stepping into Harry's shoes in Deathly Hallows!
There will also be guest speakers, games, local vendors, food, face-painting, and tea-leaf and crystal ball readings, among other activities.
Wrock for Darfur will be held on August 23, 2008 along the beautiful Hudson River at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie, New York. It will begin at noon and continue until after dark.
Registration for the Horcrux Hunt is now open on their website www.wrockdarfur.org.
This is a unique opportunity for Harry Potter fans. All funds raised by Wrock for Darfur will be donated to directly support humanitarian aid in Darfur and the greater Sudan.
