Rumor: Deathly Hallows could be 700 pages long

by David Haber, Wizard News Editor

Thanks to a Wizard News reader Christiane who pointed out to us that the German online book-selling site weltbild.de is listing the as of yet unpublished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as 700 pages long.

From the Deathly Hallows page on www.weltbild.de

This page count has not been verified by any other source, although reportedly, the German distributor has said that they got an acknowledgement of this info from Bloomsbury's German branch office in Berlin. No other site, including Barnes and Noble, and Amazon in the US and the UK, are listing a page count for the book, and as this 700 is a round number, it's very possible this page count was listed as an approximation.

This listing is for the English version of the book to be printed by Bloomsbury in Germany, which would assumedly have the same page count as the British version.

At 700 pages, this would make Deathly Hallows almost 100 pages longer than the previous book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was 607 pages in the UK, but not the longest Harry Potter book, which is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, at 766 pages in the UK edition.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be published in English worldwide on July 21, 2007.
