Rumor: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 3D

by David Haber, Wizard News Managing Editor

With the joint announcement yesterday from IMAX and Warner Bros. that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released simultaneously in IMAX as well as regular theaters, today the Cinematical movie web site is reporting rumors that part of the Order of the Phoenix IMAX release may be in 3D!

According to Cinematical, Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment, says everyone involved is currently exploring the option of transforming a chunk of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix into 3-D. Cinematical says they imagine IMAX will wait and see how well Superman Returns does before making any definite decisions. Superman Returns, which opens in theaters next Wednesday, June 28, will have approximately 20 minutes in 3D in it's IMAX presentations.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is due in theaters on July 13, 2007.
