Harry Potter actors favorites for Tony awards

The nominations for the 2006 60th Annual Tony Awards were announced this morning at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The History Boys starring Harry Potter's Uncle Vernon, Richard Griffiths, was nominated for a Tony for Best Play, which also got Mr. Griffiths a nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play, and Frances de la Tour, Madame Maxime in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, in the Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play category.

Also nominated for Best Leading actor is Ralph Fiennes, Voldemort in Goblet of Fire, for Faith Healer. And Zoe Wanamaker, Madam Hooch in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, has been nominated for Best Actress for Awake and Sing! Both of these plays have also been nominated for Best Revival of a Play.

And Jim Dale, the voice of the Harry Potter Books in the US, has been nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for The Threepenny Opera, which is also nominated for Best Revival of a Musical.

The Tony Awards will be held Sunday, June 11th at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and will be broadcast in the US on CBS TV.
