Robbie Coltrane rocks in new Cracker film

[from Manchester Online Film & TV News]

Robbie Coltrane rocks in the first new Cracker film for 10 years. Preview clips of Fitz's return to Manchester reveal a sharp-edged updated look to the production and a story which promises to cause plenty of controversy.

The two-hour ITV1 feature-length special, due to be shown in the autumn, has a score by New Order and links images of the modern post-IRA bomb Manchester to the war in Iraq. "Robbie absolutely loves this film," reveals ITV chief Andy Harries.

"He just couldn't believe how good it was - it's moved on a bit. It's fabulous."

Reports of a new Cracker series to follow this one-off film are wide of the mark. Robbie told me last year that he wasn't interested in doing a series. But he is keen to make more one-off films as Fitz.

"It's difficult, because he spends eight months of the year on Harry Potter," explains Andy. "He was cautious about returning but he was blown away by the Cracker film. We are definitely talking to him about doing more."
