Mary GrandPre art exhibit in Virginia

Reston, VA - ArtInsights will be exhibiting limited editions of art by Mary GrandPre representing images from the Harry Potter book series, as well as originals created by GrandPre for other children's books, to coincide with the release of the newest book in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". The exhibit will be premiered on Friday July 15th, and will be on display through August 28th.

"We are pleased to be one of only 6 galleries to premiere the Harry Potter limited editions nationwide, and honored to be the only gallery in the country to also have her original children's illustrative art." says Leslie Combemale, co-owner of ArtInsights.

"It's a rare talent as an artist to be able to interpret a writer's stories and bring them to visual life. It's exciting to see the children's books and then see the originals used in their illustration."

ArtInsights will also be onhand at the release party of the new Harry Potter book at the Barnes and Noble in Reston on July 15th, where Ms. Combemale will be teaching an art class on Mary GrandPre's illustrations to the children in attendance.

Mary Grandpre has received worldwide recognition for her Harry Potter artwork. She has also created illustrations for Atlantic Monthly, Time Magazine, and Random House publishing, where she has illustrated classic tales such as Cinderella. Additionally, GrandPre was given an opportunity to develop scenery for the DreamWorks feature ANTZ. She has illustrated more than 10 children's books, and has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, Graphics, Print and Art Direction. She has just released the first book she both wrote and illustrated, in partnership with her husband, called "Henry and Pawl and the Round Yellow Ball". GrandPre's style, what she calls "soft geometry", often features pastels, and offers a colorful, whimsical approach. Ms. GrandPre was just named in Entertainment Weekly's 2005 "Must list", and was the only visual artist to be included.

ArtInsights, established in 1994, is a privately owned business located in Reston Town Center, Virginia. In addition to being one of only ten Chuck Jones Signature Galleries in the country, ArtInsights is Virginia's only animation gallery. It is the only art gallery in the Washington Metropolitan area authorized to represent Warner Brothers animation art, Mary GrandPre's original children's illustrations, and the original art by top movie poster artist John Alvin.
