Potter and Rings stars to appear at CauldronCon 2005
Actors from the Harry Potter films, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Star Wars saga are the guests scheduled for CauldronCon 2005, Friday, August 12, 2005, through Sunday, August 14, 2005, north of Boston, MA at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort. CauldronCon 2005 is for fans and anyone interested in the art of movie making.
The special guests of this fan-run volunteer-staffed event include:
Harry Potter's classmates; Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Devon Murray (Sheamus Finnigan), and a member of that bad boy team, James Waylett (Vincent Crabbe), along with Harry's best friend's brothers, the twin Weasleys, Oliver and James Phelps, will also be part of this family of fans convention.
John Rhys-Davies, the accomplished character actor who portrayed Gimli the Dwarf, a member of the Fellowship of the Ring, in the Academy Award winning film trilogy. Other fans will remember Mr. Rhys-Davies for his enormously enjoyable portrayal of Sala, in two Indiana Jones films, and his TV series 'Sliders'. He will be joined by Royd Tolkien, great-grandson of the writer J.R.R. Tolkien, and an actor in the trilogy, portraying a Gondorian Ranger, and Sala Baker, who portrayed Sauron, the Lord of the Rings, in the trilogy, and who is now filming in many more family-fantasy films, including The Chronicles of Narnia, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Peter Mayhew, who has portrayed the galaxy's most mighty Wookie, Chewbacca, in four of the six Star Wars films, will talk about his experiences from the 1970s through the filming in 2005, and will be joined by his friend, Jeremy Bulloch, the most feared bounty hunter, Boba Fett in the early Star Wars films, and an Aldorian Freighter Captain in the newly released Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. And for a little alter-ego boost, Daniel Logan, the younger version of Boba Fett from Episode II: Attack of the Clones, will join them.
Ray Park, the multi-talented martial arts practitioner, who portrayed Darth Maul in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace will join a cadre of local martial arts masters to discuss the different forms and teachings that are available to children today. He is also filming with the Pirates of the Caribbean crew for the next two releases under that title.
CauldronCon is not just an autograph show, though all the actors will be signing throughout the weekend. In addition, there will be a merchandise vendors area, and the actors will be on panels and doing audience driven Q&A; sessions. A DJ-hosted costume party dance will take place on Saturday evening, there will be a costume competition with awards, a charity auction, and bus trips to Salem, "The Witch City." Some actors will be participating in these fun events, and we'll wrap up the weekend with a special dinner in Salem. Membership prices to CauldronCon are $80/weekend, $40/day for advance purchases, and prices at the door are $50/day. Children 12 and under are half price.
The Sheraton Ferncroft Resort is located at 50 Ferncroft Road, Danvers, Massachusetts, about 20 minutes north of Boston on the way to Salem. Phone (978)777-2500 for rooms. To get the convention rate, you must mention CauldronCon when making your reservations.
