Fan website The Leaky Cauldron reports today that two separate Warner Bros. spokespeople have emphatically said that stories that say David Yates has already been chosen as director for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are false.

Many directors are in the mix and in talks with producers, they said, including Yates. According to the Leaky Cauldron, David Heyman told people at last night's DVD launch party that we'll have an official director announcement by Christmas or a short while before. Yates is in the running, but so are others.

However, fan website Mugglenet is now reporting that they have gotten word from Warner Bros. that David Yates will be the director for the fifth Harry Potter movie adaptation.

So, whether or not the story really is true seems to be unclear at the moment. Stay tuned for updates.
