Who is R.A.B. and where is Slytherin's Locket?

by David Haber

In the dramatic climax of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore and Harry recover a locket from Voldemort's secret cave. Only after Dumbledore "dies" does Harry open the locket and find the note from R.A.B. But who is R.A.B., and where is the locket now?

I just read about the posts on Dumbledore/James/Snape having horcruxes and find it highly unlikely. Firstly, most of you are forgetting that a horcrux is not something that you can make when you like. You have to first.
Also, making a horcrux is also very dark magic, and few wizards know about it. (which makes me wonder how Slughorn got to know about them when even the library book doesn't?)

I also think that the theory of Voldermort having a horcrux in hogwarts flawed. From my impression, horcruxes are created almost immediately after a , not a few years later. As Dumbledore said somewhere in the book that Nagini was a horcrux, Voldermort decided to turn her into a horcrux when he ed Frank Bryce. If you could create a horcrux when the was commited so long ago, why didn't he turn Nagini into a horcrux before?

Also, i want to voice out a question. Voldermort stated that 7 was the most powerful magical number, which hinted that he wanted 7 horcruxes. If so, how would having 7 horcruxes make them more powerful?

Morty and theeaters....definatly MOTOWN...
four or five part harmonies....
Morty upfront, four or five eaters dancing behind him..
they got boo'ed off the stage at the Apollo...and thats what turned them evil...

one of the horcruxes is a "45" of Stevie Wonder singing "Superstition"..

Almost forgot... A horcrux, as I understand it, just acts like an anchor to hold your soul in this world.... The part of the soul that gets put in the horcrux doesn't "get out"... It's the part that remains in the body that gets reborn into another form..

Thats the part that floated around possesing small animals in the Albanian forest before Quirrol(sp) showed up..

at least, thats the way I read it.... how exactly a horcrux works is one of those "little details" we have, thus far, been denied..... so all we have are guesses

Very Superstitious
Writing on the wall!

A long haired Tom Riddle belting out the covers. Doesn't help on the whole "Who is RAB" front though! Lucius Malfoy hiting all the Alto high notes and Crabbe and "Gar" Goyle doing the little hand gestures and turns like the Pips do for Martha. Sign me up, I am there! Where's my bong and lovebeads? (It was during the 60's wasn't it?)

(Oh crud, the 40's) Where's my Zoot Suit and snood, Jackson?

I'd like to add another clue that Regulas is R.A.B.I'm kind of suprised that no one had brought this up.In the note thet R.A.B wrote "To the Dark Lord..." We know that
LV's Eaters adress him as the Dark Lord.Since Regulas was a Eater, He still may be using LV's other title.

Just a thought.

The Dark Lord and the Lordetts......

ok.. I'll stop now...

lets see if I've got this all....
R.A.B. is most likely Regulus Black..
-he may or may not be in hiding...posibly as the hairy bass player from the Weird Sisters( Aunt Petunia?)
-Kretcher may have crossed the lake with him and helped him steal the
horcrux...most likely Slytherin's locket( I still think it could have been the cup)or the person who helped him could have been an animagus in animal form since they seem to "register" differently than when in human form..
OR...
Madam Bones....crushing on the young Riddle...lead astray..realized her error and tried to atone...
Harry could be a horcrux....
the snake...
something of Griffindoor's...
something of Ravenclaw's......

did I miss anything?

Any female that is later married and we don't have a maiden name nor a Christian name for is a possible still. I liked the repeating of the crush leading to magical ensnarement of the crushable from Dumbledore's parable about Merope and the original Tom Riddle. JK tends to set something up and then use each thread once and only once.

Take the Animagus form. It is presented in Prisoner of Azkaban and used as a plot point in Order of the Phoenix when Rita Skeeter became an insect to become the literal "fly on the wall" to gather her justifications for her stories in the Wizard Weekly. Harry and crew do not become Animagi. As an author I personally would have made Ginny a Phoenix and had her slain only to rise from the ashes of her own pyre.

The unused gimmicks might include: the pets of Hagrid yet unused like Fluffy and Norbert, a crushing female controlling a male through less traditional charms. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Nicknamed's Objects de Horcrux that are yet to be reactivated. The fact that Stan Shunpike thinks Harry Potter is really Neville Longbottom!

Any thoughts: RAB = Riddle and Black?

bRodrick Bode? a stretch I know......

the problem with Riddle and Black is there are no more Riddles...are there?
didn't Morty snuff them all?
unless there are more illegitimate Riddles floating around....

RAB is 100% sure Regulus Black.
I am so sure because in the translation in Dutch RAB becomes RZ. Regulus's name is translated as Regulus in Dutch, however Black in Dutch means Zwart and this name is used in the Dutch translation: RAB becomes RZ.

I support the idea that Regulas is hiding possibly as the hairy bass player since it makes perfect sense. Well, to me, I guess.

Jeanne has got an point. I also have the Dutch translation and its:
Regulus(...)Black = Regulus(...)Zwarts

and in the Halfblood Prince the under the note its says: R.A.Z, ( in the dutch translation )
