The next Harry Potter: Back to the future or the past?

The Harry Potter books are done. Should J.K. Rowling write some new books that also involve the world of Harry Potter? Or, in the words of the Beatles, should she Let It Be?

And if she does write some new books about Harry's magical world, what should they be about? Would you like to read books about Albus Severus Potter and his adventures at Hogwarts? Or would you like to know more about the times of James, Sirius and Remus? How about going all the way back to the time of Dumbledore and Grindelwald? Or even further?

It's fun to read fan fiction ideas for these things, but would you like official books from J.K. about these stories? What would you like to see in the J.K. Rowlings's next "Harry Potter" book?

I think Jo should write a prequel about the Marauders from Lily's point of veiw. I'd like to learn more about Lily besides what was in 'The Prince's Tale'. Like, why did she fall in love with James?

Hey Marauder from Essex,

Well said, even I would like to read abt Alice n Frank Longbottom.

Rowling should even write abt Hagrid at Hogwarts and how the Chamber of Secrets was opened for the first time.

When Hagrid was at hogwarts even Voldemort was in his last year at hogwarts, i would like to read more abt that.

i think that seeing as she has finished them now she should let them lie...she always planned to do seven.
i can't wait for the harry potter encyclopedia though!

I would like to read about the founders of Hogwarts and there adventures and their plight to make a school for wizards.

I think she shouldn't write more books. People would not be able to read them without thinking, "Oh, she's just piggybacking off of HP's success." Let her move on to more literary projects and leave the love life of Severus and Lily to the countless fanfic writers in the HP world.

jo should write something from both sides.

I think that she should leave Harry Potter alone, but write a story with some other character (but definitely not with Albus Severus Potter). Maybe someone like Scorpius Malfoy, one of the other Weasly children, or Teddy Lupin.

I hope I'm not repeating anything anyone has written (having not read all of the other comments) but I think JK has a chance to create a body of work that can rival the most famous authors of all time. JK can choose to write about the wizarding world from the point of view of any character she chooses, and in any timeline she wants. Much like the brilliant Discworld books by Terry Pratchet, stories, trilogies and sagas can be crafted about this world, and not necessarily through Harry Potter. After all, the world was something she created, as well as each character. The best thing about this is that she could pick and choose which genre each book could fall into (if any).

I think JK should make about 1/2 more books about what happens with James & Lily when they meet Voldemort & battle him that would be exciting.

Think about this: Years have passed and Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione are told that Professor McGonagall wants to see them. They all go and she tells them that she tell them anything they want to know because she does not want to take secrets to her grave. Who better to tell us about the real Dumbldore? I thought maybe a series of books on this theme could emcompass all the characters and we would be able to find out what we all want to know. Maybe one book could have Hagrid doing the story telling and tell them all about Sirius, James, Remus, and Peter. Arthur and Molly Weasley could maybe shed some light on the original Order of the Pheonix as well.

As I love all the HP books I haven't really got a reason to fear that any more books, either sequels or prequels, would be less good than the 7 existing ones. Nonetheless, I think Jo should let it be. The story is finished, and satisfactorily so.

I would also, for some crazy reason, like to find out about Rita Skeeter. I'm not sure why, maybe because I feel that there is a story behind her bitterness in her articles or maybe because if it showed her life then we would hear all the interviews she took before they got mangled by her, that would probably show a lot of the news of the past few years.
