The next Harry Potter: Back to the future or the past?

The Harry Potter books are done. Should J.K. Rowling write some new books that also involve the world of Harry Potter? Or, in the words of the Beatles, should she Let It Be?

And if she does write some new books about Harry's magical world, what should they be about? Would you like to read books about Albus Severus Potter and his adventures at Hogwarts? Or would you like to know more about the times of James, Sirius and Remus? How about going all the way back to the time of Dumbledore and Grindelwald? Or even further?

It's fun to read fan fiction ideas for these things, but would you like official books from J.K. about these stories? What would you like to see in the J.K. Rowlings's next "Harry Potter" book?

Go the way of the Beatles... Let It Be...

Even if J.K would write some for of prequel to the HP series (which i seriously doubt she would) it wouldn't have the same effect. Yes, some of the Maurders adventures would be fun but it just wouldn't have the same effect as the battle for good and evil between the DE and the Order.
I know that its hard for all of us to accept that its over but we just have to keep visiting the place in our heads and in the books.
Another point... If J.K wrote about the Maurders at school, position would she put Severus Snape in? A book about the Maurders would but Snape as the arch-enemy. After all we have found out about Snape would it be fair to turn him into the villan all over again? Hasn't he proven that his dislike of James and Sirius is purely because of his so called jelousy of James quiddich talent and his feelings for Lily. I dont think J.K would do it and i think it would be unfair to the hero and brave man Snape... x

Saying that, writing something from Voldemorts point of view would be interesting. Starting at Harry's birth and following on, giving a 10 year gap as she did in the original books. His look on things while possesing Quirrel, skip books 2 and 3 because he dosn't really get involved, but from 4 when wormtail returns to him would be a really exicting read... All the plotting to get Harry from 4 onwards would be amazing. Ending it... When it ends... x

I would like to see a series of books from 'The Marauder's Years' (see that JK - even given you a title lol) focusing on the friendship of James, Sirius, Remus, & Peter perhaps focalised through James so that an 8th book can be written to include the marriage to Lily, birth of Harry and ending with the scene at Godrics Hollow.
I would LOVE a book on Snape.
It would be interesting too if she wrote a further Harry Potter book - something like 'Harry Potter and the Veil of Shadows' - that Resurrection Stone is just lying about in the Forbidden Forest, and just because we (and Harry) knows that trying to bring the back across is ultimately doomed to failure - it doesn't mean that some other bright spark wouldn't try to get Voldemort back...

JKRowling has done such a superb job in drawing the characters in the HP world and in giving us insights into the past that I'm personally quite satisfied with the past. I know enough to use my imagination and to find connections each time I reread a book. But, because those characters are so clearly defined, Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione just seem like the nice young families down the block. If Jo was to write anything more, I would love to know a bit more about their lives now. Where do Harry and Ginny live? Are Ron and Hermione close by? What is it like for the redeemer of the wizarding world to now live a "normal" life and have his own family? What bedtime stories does he tell James, Al, and Lily? OK, I admit it, I'm a fanatic: what brand of toothpaste do wizards use? How does Ginny manage to home school those three and have an outside job? Ron and Harry both drive (per the epilogue). How connected are their lives to the Muggle world? Basically, I'd want Jo to write however much could be translated into a weekly TV series--one with a 7-10 year run. But, I'm not picky.

I was thinking that exact thing. I highly doubt we'd ever see it, as most authors, especially those who are REALLY emtionally attached to their characters avoid writing from the villain point of view because of that "taste" it leaves in their minds.

I would find seeing things from Voldy's view interesting, especially for all the times that Dubmledore beat him that we don't know about. Memories of the first war. His times without a body. All of the "off-screen" stuff.

I think alot of books could be written. First a continuation of the ly Hallows, maybe set about 3 weeks to 3 months later, getting the school ready for a new term. Maybe involving Harry and the gang on a trip to when Hogwart's was started. These could be another seven books. I think we need to start a petition going asking for more books.

Where to begin.....

1. The creation of Hogwarts (including but not limited to the spliting of the founders of Hogwarts and the creation of all the secret places in Hogwarts).
2. The last generation (i.e.: Harry's parents and that crowd, up to when James & Lilly were ed).
3. The 19 years (i.e.: go more into what Harry and the gang have done in the 19 years since the end of book 7).
4. What does Harry do in later life. Is he a teacher at Hogwarts (Defense against the Dark Arts), and go onto be the Headmaster.
5. Have Harry's kids have a need for the resurrection stone and the wand of power, and how they find them. What do they do when they are together (Harry never possessed them all at the same time).

Just to name a few.

I would DIE if JK did not write any more books. I would like some stories about the Dumbledores (Ariana's life really interests me). I would also like to know what James, Albus and Lily (when she gets there) get up to at Hogwarts. A book about Hagrids time at Hogwarts would be kinda cool.

I think that she should do a story about how james sirius and lupin and things like how they came to develop the marauders map, their night time wanderings and how james and lily got together and got married. I also agree with an earlier suggestion of how they defied voldemort.

To name some..

-Hagrids life before hogwarts.
-Dumbelore and Grindelvalds past
-James and the gang along with lily and snape
-Also maybe a bit of when hogwarts was first created.

I'd like to hear it from Snape's point of view. He has always been my favorite character. It would also be cool if the story explores another magical school instead of Hogwarts. I'd love to hear it from maybe a Beaxbatons student. Though seeing that Jo is Scottish so she probably woulden't write from a French students point of view.

Though what I really want to hear is another big adventure taken by Harry!

A book 8 with the details of what is going on after the day Voldemort s - the rebuilding of Hogwart, the search for the last eaters, the beginnings of Harry and Ron as Aurors... would be great, as well as the story of Harry and Ginny back together.
Then - stories about Albus at Hogwart, along with the others kids - would be awesome too. In the documentary, JK Rowling almost admitted, before a long silence, that she could imagine stories around Albus Potter, before denying it. She does not want to be rushed, but I think there is hope here.
