The next Harry Potter: Back to the future or the past?

The Harry Potter books are done. Should J.K. Rowling write some new books that also involve the world of Harry Potter? Or, in the words of the Beatles, should she Let It Be?

And if she does write some new books about Harry's magical world, what should they be about? Would you like to read books about Albus Severus Potter and his adventures at Hogwarts? Or would you like to know more about the times of James, Sirius and Remus? How about going all the way back to the time of Dumbledore and Grindelwald? Or even further?

It's fun to read fan fiction ideas for these things, but would you like official books from J.K. about these stories? What would you like to see in the J.K. Rowlings's next "Harry Potter" book?

I think a story of the Hogwarts founders and the formation of the school would make a great story. And wasn't that when the Statute of Secrecy was introduced as well? It be good if it turned out that Salazar Slytherin did something to muggles that was what made them rise against wizards and force them into hiding...

But all these are excellent ideas, maybe she could do a whole bunch of short stories in one book, maybe it could turn out to be one the books Hermione loved, like A History of Magic, going all the way back to Merlin?

I would love to see as many books as possible with anything to do with HP Series. I and many of my friends are heartbroken there's not more to the story! Albus Severus' adventures would be cool, but then again so many other things would be too! PLEASE DO MORE BOOKS!

That's a good idea. I'll love any more book about Harry Potter's magic world. I think story of Albus Potter, Rose Weasley, Scorpius Malfoy be great. Another story of James Potter and his friends with Lily Evans and Severus Snape be wonderful. And a Dumbledore- Grindelwald story be cool. And who wait to read if there's something like 'Hogwarts: A History' or 'A History of Magic'?
So, any book connected with the world of Harry Potter be like a dream.

I would LOVE to read a story about Harry and Ginny's kids at Hogwarts. Do they get into trouble? What kinds of jobs do Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione have? And another good Question: What does Harry do with the invisibility cloak?

A book about Tom Riddle's transformation into the evil Lord Voldemort Would Be awesome. I would like to hear about how he seemed so good to others but surely had evil thoughts in his head.

And this is just a wild idea but what about book about Charlie Weasley's time in Romania with dragons? Or Bill's time at Gringott's. Charlie must have some interesting and adventurous Stories about his life with dragons. Bill probably knows a bunch of secrets about Gringott's and wizard money.

Those are the Stories I think would be cool. Oh yeah, and one from Sirius's point of view about his life at home and all his adventures with Lupin, James, and Peter Pedigrew.

Any of these ideas could be really exciting, as long as they are written well. But I am really looking forward to the Harry Potter Encyclopedia that JK Rowling promised to be working on.

How the ly Hallows were created? These were not obviously created by ! How the Peverells were able to create those powerful magical things?

It would be nice if there comes a story about the Peverell brothers and their Hallows.

Albus Sev. era, defo. He probably should've ended up in Slytherin, along with Rose and Scorpius and they'd be the new trio.

I must confess that I am torn with regards to whether JKR should write another HP based story (Though I think the most we can expect be an encyclopedia or guide to the HP world). The characters that have come and gone throughout the 7 books would be very hard to surpass - with regards to a story set after book 7, can anyone really think of a better villain than LV?

The twists and turns of the books are a huge part of the appeal - now that we know a fair amount of the back story (though not all perhaps) could a prequel really do itself justice? It's a tricky question and I don't know the answer - A lot of Star Wars fans would agree that the movie prequels didn't do the saga justice, would a HP prequel book?

A break away story would be risky and spin-offs can often turn out badly - I think perhaps the Dumbledore/Grindelwald era could work (and who could resist reading about Dumbledore duelling whilst arguably at his prime!). This brings me onto a slightly different note, regarding Dumbledore - It has been said throughout that Dumbledore was the only wizard LV feared, but why exactly was this - was it a matter of wizarding power? Was LV intimidated? Did it concern LV that Dumbledore had always known more about him than anyone else and continued to accurately foresee what his intentions were? Do we know whether they clashed when Voldemort first rose to power and the original OOTP first came into being? LV has always struck me as being super confident in his own abilities and powers, so why was it the common belief that he feared Dumbledore? The only real occasion I can think of when they fought was in OOTP, which in the HP world could be considered fairly recent. This might be controversial but I would have to say that they were fairly evenly matched at the Ministry (Though Dumbledore was perhaps a little pre-occupied with protecting others).

Even in comparison with Grindelwald (who Dumbledore admits to being evenly matched with or perhaps a little more sed than) LV is still considered the most dangerous (and presumably most powerful) dark wizard of all time, so again I ask the question - why would he fear Dumbledore?

1. I think we need a female perspective so I vote Harry's daughter Lily Potter and whatever shenanigans she gets up to at Hogwarts. I think Albus would be a good choice too.
2. Teddy Lupin, I just think he's so interesting and similar to Harry in the way he is orphaned young, yet seems very interesting and unique.
3. I DON'T really want to read a James, Sirius, Lupin, Pettigrew series, because we already know how it ends! And a young James Potter is not nearly as likable or interesting and complex as Harry. BUT, I would read the series if it was from Lupin's point of view, because his life seemed more interesting and we barely know much about his childhood.

If JK decides to write another potter book, I definately think it should be before Harry's time. James, Sirius, Lupin, and Peter; or the founders of Hogwarts; also more about Voldemort; OR (THIS WOULD BE REALLY INTERESTING), Dumbledore's time at Hogwarts. And I would love to know more about his childhood.

But at the same time, I would be in complete understanding if JK chose not to write any more Potters. The epic is complete, and amazing just the way it is. I would hate to see it get overworked. It could really come out spectacular though to do a prequal.

I think Rowling should try to take the Tolkien approach: write the backstory of the series, but write it in the style of an in-universe history book like what Tolkien did with "The Silmarillion" and "The Book of Lost Tales". That way we could all get the Dumbledore-Grindelwald prequel that many have voiced a desire for, as well as a possible book about the Founders, all written as if you were reading a Hogwarts schoolbook.

I think that having prequel series would be boring for the lack of a supervillan and otherwise if JKR was even more of a super author than she already is than she would have new ideas, Albus Severus Potter having a series about would be OK but unless for some strange reason Voldemort somehow returns thanks to Scorpius Malfoy or another Supervillan comes up it wouldnt be as good to read. Also the magical world JKR has produced is so complex thinking of new idea be hard as to be careful to not interfere the laws of magic she has already placed. One more thing if she wants a series and she makes one it shouldn be Albus Severus for eg.

Albus Severus Potter and the Return of The DARK LORD!
