The Aftermath: We were all correct
 by David Haber
Sometime a week before Book 7 came out, someone commented that Harry would die, but then come back. I think most everyone on the site thought it was a silly idea. But I told several people at that time that I thought that just might be the perfect solution, although I couldn't figure out how J.K. could make it work. J.K. did, of course! So, the half of the Harry Potter fans in the world who thought Harry would die were right! And the other half who thought he would live were also right!

I think it's absolutely brilliant how she did it. Snape's LOVE for Lily redeemed and protected him from going back to being evil, Regulus' LOVE for Kreacher redeeming him from the same, Dumbledore's LOVE for his family redeeming him from corruption, the Malfoys' LOVE for their son eclipsing their lust for power, and the LOVE shared by Harry and his friends and families so strong that they gladly as Lily Potter did--to give the others protection through their sacrifice. LOVE as the ultimate weapon against evil and all its' temptations. An excellent way to teach a modern generation about one of life's most important lessons. Thank you to the makers of this site, which was one of the few things that made the last few days of waiting bearable. Posted by Phoebe from Philippines on July 22, 2007 6:04 PM
RIP Hedwig and Dobby....I've never cried so much in a book until these two characters d.
And the two characters who I disliked throughout the series, wound up being my favorites. Snape and Kreacher. Show's that you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover Posted by Rachel from East Meadow, NY on July 22, 2007 6:06 PM
I forgot to comment before, special recognition to the one (or more) who realized that when Petunia talked of "that awful boy," she meant Snape, not James. Now, that was just beyond clever of you! Posted by JK from California on July 22, 2007 6:07 PM

I am sitting here not believing that it is all over. I am incredibly sad. I can't help tearing up thinking about Lupin, Tonks and Fred especially. I feel as if I they all truly d in real life.
As it was coming close to finding out that Harry was an accidental horcrux, I felt something bad coming for Harry. I was sitting outside reading and I said outloud, "if you've ed him, I hate you forever". I haven't been able to stand the idea of him, Ron or Hermoine ing.
One of the things she did so well in this book (and in her other books, too) was make you feel. I was so angry at Dumbledore after sharing Snape's memories. I hated him for setting Harry up. When Harry d, it hurt so much. Although, it hurt to lose all of them. I miss Fred so much.
They have been part of my world for so long now. I can't believe that they are gone.
Toast to you JK. Thank you for the stories. For the part they have added to our lives. Thank you for ending the story with Harry still here and Voldemort gone. Harry feels so real to me. I would have missed him even more than I do right now. Posted by Stephanie L= from Madison, WI on July 22, 2007 6:07 PM
Best book EVER.
The only problem I have with it is...is Hermione left-handed?
In the scene where they were they were about to flee from the Lovegood's house, she told Harry to grab her hand and he grabbed with his left hand. That means that he grabbed her right hand, and she used her wand with her LEFT hand. I never knew that she was left handed, but then again, it might have been an error. To everyone who asked, the person who learned how to do magic late in life was:

After a day of marathon reading DEATHLY HALLOWS I have managed to partially digest what has happened to Harry et all. JK Rowling is a genius. Yes, there are some inconsistencies and questions that are not fully answered but to conjure up a world that so many of us have poured oursselves into over these last few years is nothing short of brilliant! I can't imagine that the wheels turning in JK Rowling's head are the same as most average human beings. I hope she has a few more stories in there somewhere for her adoring readers. I took the books at face value and enjoyed every minute.
The questions I have may be answered when I read it a 2nd and 3rd time. Unlike some others I liked the epilogue but feel it didn't go quite far enough. I'm assuming Tonk's mother raised Teddy. And I'm assuming Victoire is Bill and Fleur's daughter. But is Harry "there" for Teddy as Sirius was for him (at least for a short period)? What job does Harry hold? Is Professor McGonagall head of Hogwarts? What do they do with Voldemort's body? What happened to all the Weasley's? Do Draco and Harry ever communicate except from afar? I could go on. Jo help us! I'm still having mixed feelings about the book, I think mainly because it really is the end. It's been a part of us for so long.
I was completely shocked to bits by the of Fred, a Weasley had to surely of course, but I never expected one twin without the other. J.K is too harsh to us!
Surprised that Hagrid lived, but completely glad of course, his (had it come) would of left me in tears for too long.
I prepared myself for Lupin's (my favorite character bar Snape), and just disappointed he and Tonks both had to go and leave their son.
I expected the whole Snape/Lily thing, still didn't like it.. I never be into that ship no matter how cannon it is. Snapes was horrible, I think those of us who knew Snape was good expected him to 'taking the bullet' for Harry and though he gave us those memories which explained everything it just seemed as insult to me how he d, though I was moved to pieces when he told Harry to look into his eyes - he wanted to see Lily when he d and he did.
Hegwig and Dobby.. how tragic, they were fantastic and it was just horrible.. also with Crabbe and Colin both still kids really, and Crabbe from his own bit of 'genius'.
I just didn't buy the kids names at the end of the book, a new James and Lily Potter, they were married and now they are brother and sister.. Just seems wrong to me. Though the ending sentence was a bit weak really too, and here we all braced ourselves for the end word to be 'Scar'. Close!
There is so much more to say really.. But we could all write a book the length of ly Hallows analysing it's content really..
Oh who would of known the symbol WAS the ly Hallows?! Loved that whole thing though with the cloak, stone and wand, and how Harry worked out that the wand was his. Brilliant.
Still.. it is the end now... I wonder what the fanfiction writers write about... Posted by Gagsy from Kent, England on July 22, 2007 6:26 PM
Well, I was hoping to see a bit more romance in this book, but it was still good. I just cannot believe its over. One question I had was, How did Lily and James thrice defy Voldemort before? Posted by Dark Lord on July 22, 2007 6:27 PM
Phoebe, from the Phillipines:
Can I compliment you on a nicely written post. It sums up so many of the good things that happen in the book; Kreacher amongst them. How his attitude was changed by kindness, as Herione said it would and Dumbledore confirmed.
Oh and I want to pass on my thanks too. I was waiting for Beyond Hogwarts to come back up myself! Posted by Marjorie from New Zealand on July 22, 2007 6:30 PM
Nice twist about the hallows. i always thought that snaper was on harry's side, too bad he d though. i felt terrible about fred, lupin and tonks . its just sad for teddy.
Book 7 is indeed the Best of Harry Potter books! Posted by Sasa from Manila, Philippines on July 22, 2007 6:31 PM
Dear Phoebe from the Philippines - thank you for that post! I totally agree. I was just thinking of all the moments of redeeming, Dudley recognizing that Harry saved his life, Hermioned finding a way to leave the Lovegoods' without implicating Xeno, Pettigrew's moment of compassion, the trio saving Draco from (twice), etc. And I think it's significant that Voldemort ultimately s from his own curse. I was so proud of Harry when he started calling him "Riddle." And he offered him the chance to live, by telling him about the role of remorse. Posted by JK from California on July 22, 2007 6:34 PM
