The Aftermath: We were all correct

by David Haber

Sometime a week before Book 7 came out, someone commented that Harry would die, but then come back. I think most everyone on the site thought it was a silly idea. But I told several people at that time that I thought that just might be the perfect solution, although I couldn't figure out how J.K. could make it work. J.K. did, of course! So, the half of the Harry Potter fans in the world who thought Harry would die were right! And the other half who thought he would live were also right!

Reader Comments: (Page 43)

Well, first of all, I am SHOCKED that Harry, Ron, and Hermione all survived and all continued with their lives happily. Also, I am surprised at how much people got right here. Lots of peoples comments were actually correct, or reletivly close. I always thought that DH would involve infiri because of the ministry safety phamphlet in HBP. The phamphlet has seven saferty tips. Many of them involve things that happen in the book of the same number as them. The seventh safety tip involves infiri, so I thought the seventh book would too. I think they were mentioned in passing. Oh well.

she should make another 7 book epic but this time the story is the alternative: if voldemort had chosen neville longbottom as his "equal"?

so in my favorite chapter of any book ever, in "The Only One He Ever Feared" in Order of the Phoenix, it turns out Dumbledore won in the epic duel with Voldermort because he had the unbeatable elder wand, which he somehow took from grindelwald in a DUEL, despite the fact that the elder wand is unbeatable in a DUEL.

theory- dumbledore was battling grindelwald, dodging and blocking etc; when then, dumby destroyed a ceiling or something that fell on grindelwald, knocked him out, and caused the elder wand to fall out of his hand. then, the dumbster, as i call him, walked up to the wreckage, and picked up the wand, having defeated grindelwald. the wand might not have let dumbledore directly grindel as long as they were in combat and trying to beat each other, but it couldn't have saved grindelwald if the dumbster outsmarted him and beat him using the environment. that sounds like dumbledore's style.

Lily's Eyes

The significance is them is that Harry looks at Snape as Snape is . Snape sees the love of his life, Lily, looking into Harry's eyes.

There is constant mention throughout the books of Harry looking like his father but having his mother's eyes, so much so that even Harry gets a bit fed up with it. It is of vital importance as it all leads up to that one moment when Snape surrenders his memories and with them his own exoneration of his behaviour throughout the entire canon, which, as we find in the epilogue Harry has accepts. He honours Snape's part in keeping him safe by naming his son after him.

lily's eyes are why snape was good, and why he protected harry, because he loved lily.

Posted by lily from albusseverus on July 24, 2007 5:32 PM

page 660, goblet of fire, it says " his mother was not there to for him this time... he felt quite unprotected." so, the protection, only works once, yet harry's sacrifice protects his friends from at least TWO silencing spells. then page 708, DH, harry says "if he used the ing curse on me and nobody d for me THIS TIME how can I be alive." so it seems that a sacrifice is worth the protection from one AK, and only the fidelius charm type protection expired at age 17, since harry would no longer call privet drive "home" i know i'm on to something here! i just need someone to help me bring it all together...

To Dvin:
1.) Dumbledore had James's cloak because he was looking for the three ly Hallows, one of which is a Cloak of Invisibility which no magic can penetrate, and the charm never wears off. So he was examining it to see if this Invisibility Cloak was a Hallow.
2.) Albus was left to watch Aberforth and Ariana. But then he met Grindelwald and abandoned his siblings. Aberforth was left to watch Ariana, and he was the only one in the family who actually loved her, and no one else in the family loved him either, so he was driven practically insane when she d.
3.) I bet she did leave them in Australia. By the time this whole thing was over, she was an adult, and could take care of herself.
4.) I'm not really sure where the Dursleys went, but I am sure that once Voldemort was defeated and all his Eaters left powerless, the Order sent the word to the Dursleys and they got on with their lives.
5.) Yes we did! The Septology symbol was the symbol of the ly Hallows. The triangle was the cloak, the circle was the Resurrection Stone, and the line down the middle was the wand. Grindelwald adopted this as his symbol when he and Albus made it their mission to find and possess all three of the ly Hallows.
6.)I think that Dumbledore was ashamed of his past too much to face it and tell Harry everything that he needed to know.. but Harry found out anyway and that is what matters.

no more harry potter books to look forward, i'm gonna miss that. though i have so many questions. like what's harry, ginny, hermione and ron's job? where do they live? jk tells us that 2 main characters , lupin, tonks, mad eye, dobby, are main characters to me.

@Dvin - Harry has Lily's eyes. They serve as a reminder to Severus and the mission that he must complete.
They remind Snape of his love for Lily Evans
