Spot The Stuntman
 by David Haber
There's a scene in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone where you can clearly see a stuntman double in the place of Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley. But, the stuntman is only in the movie for four frames, so it's literally impossible to see him unless you freeze-frame the DVD.

I agree with Patti from Bellevue. I tend to notice these things, not just in HP movies, but in other movies as well. It does take away from the magic. Posted by Katie from Boerne, TX on July 13, 2007 09:57 AM
You're right - it does take away from the magic that fact that they are using stunt men instead of the real actors. Do you think that if the actors / actresses wanted to do their own stuntwork, that they'd be able to do it? Keira Knightley likes to do her own stuntwork, can't Rupert? I only have the video of the first movie, and I tried to notice the stunt double while watching it... I couldn't. Also this reminded me of something in the third movie, it doesn't really have anything to do with stunt doubles, but anyway, in the third movie when they're walking up to the fat lady's portrait for the first time in the bottom right corner you can see a portrait of Voldemort. The stunt double for Alan Rickman in POA makes for an even scarier Snape than Alan's Snape! Look at the Shrieking Shack scene, when Snape gets Expelliarmoused: Freeze frame and advance frame by frame, and you'll see a split-second of the stuntman just before he gets yanked backward and crashes into the bed. I'd hate to meet THAT Snape wandering the dark corridors at night! Posted by Nancy from Virginia on July 27, 2007 11:56 AM
i dunno about stunt doubles... but in the dvd of CoS... the part where harry is in tom riddle's memory... we see tom lookin as they bring myrtle down the stairs.. while he's turning... freeze frame it...u see that his face looks just like the present voldy's face..without a nose..
cool huh? Posted by sumeetha from dubai on July 28, 2007 08:13 AM
Me and my friends caught that a long time ago! It's hilarious, the double is way older than him and doesn't look anything like him. Posted by Maya from california on August 11, 2007 11:33 AM
wow crazy stuff guess, but nobody would notice that but you.(that's not a bad thing) Posted by Broc from Pokemon from Palet Town on August 12, 2007 7:07 PM

Like Maya said, why did they have to sue a double so much older than him? the stuntman in the frames looks about 20, maybe even 30, they could have hired someone much younger, or much shorter. they could have at least dyed his hair ginger like rupert's! it's also strange that they have rupert in the action part of the scene, rther than the stunt person to fall off. maybe they used a matress!
