Michael Gambon admits Dumbledore is really just him

"I enjoyed it!" Michael Gambon says proudly of his Dumbledore days, though he admits the role may not have stretched him particularly as an actor. "There's no character really, it's just me! Me dressed up in a costume!" Still, he misses the Harry Potter films. "It's fun laughing all the time, and I know all the other actors, I've known them for years. It's like being with friends."

On the other hand, Ian McKellen looks awesome even without Gandalf's attire... Posted by Siena from Nottingham, UK on May 1, 2010 03:31 AM
That's because you were NOT Richard Harris's DUMBLEDORE, He had character! Posted by paddles from Barrie,On. on May 5, 2010 8:25 PM
Part of the problem is that Dumbledore's role has been cut to the bone. There isn't really a great deal left to act with. Also, I don't think the scripts from PoA on have really been the Dumbledore of the books. The first two films held far more closely to the spirit of the books and part of that was the characterisaton of Dumbledore. Posted by Elizabeth from Australia on May 8, 2010 06:13 AM
