J.K. Rowling goes Beyond the Epilogue

J.K. Rowling has announced in a new interview with that the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was vague on purpose. She admitted her original epilogue was "a lot more detailed," but now that Book 7 is in our hands, J.K. no longer has to hold back any information about Harry Potter, and has now given us a lot of new details about the story and the characters.

So that means that the epilogue takes place in 2016, in the future! So right now Harry, Ron, and Hermione are 27, Ginny is 26, Teddy Lupin is 10, Victoire is 8, James is 4, Albus and Rose are 2, and Lily and Hugo are a few months old. So far no one is at Hogwarts yet... Posted by C.J. from Utah on September 1, 2007 10:45 PM
Did Hagrid ever get any closer to Olmphe? Where is the elder wand? Did Malfoy marry Pansy? Where is Buckbeak? Does Harry live at Grimmauld Palce? What age did Harry have his children? Wheres the body of Voldermort? Posted by EssexBoy from Essex on September 3, 2007 11:04 AM
I wonder, could Harry's first son's full name be James Sirius Remus Potter? Who knows? Posted by vinay from bangalore india on September 5, 2007 6:27 PM

I wonder who was Head Boy and Girl at Hogwarts while Harry and co. where away? They were supposed to be in their final year. Posted by Priya from Australia on September 7, 2007 04:58 AM
Years ago, there was a show on television called "The Waltons". When it ended, many people also wished they could know how the characters (whose lives were based on an actual family) lived out their lives. Like our beloved HP friends, these people became like part of our family and impacted our lives. From time to time, a Waltons Reunion show or an actual Waltons movie aired, with the original cast members. Star Trek fans (Trekkies) have delighted with several movies involving the original cast, as well.
I would like to see the original Harry Potter cast come together in the future for occasional continued visions of their lives. I'm a fan of the books, but I always see Dan, Emma and Rupert (who play the lead characters) when reading them. That is my wish, then. To have the original cast be reunited sometime in the future and have a well rested J.K. Rowling write their story - as no one else can. Posted by Dolores G. I have to agree with vinay. When I finished the book my main thought, aside from "*sniffle* God what a story", was "If Harry and Ginny gave Albus, Severus as a middle name, James' middle name darn well better be Sirius!" That's honestly the last piece I want to know. It's simple and sweet but the rest my brain can mostly fill in on it's own. Posted by V from Kansas City, Mo on September 12, 2007 10:03 PM
I want to read "Hogwarts a History", The History of Magic, and some of the spell books mentioned by Jo. The spell books might be boring for her to write, but that History of Hogwarts has got to have some literary pop! Posted by Nat D. Me too, Pamela, is too unfair that 50 people d sacrificing themselves to defeat evilness and Rowling didn't write a thing about a memorial, a statue or whatever. I know that this is Rowling's story and she decides what shall be written or not (in fact, she made a huge success, didn't she?), but before DH, I thought Harry Potter would have his own day, as Mcgonagall suggested at the very beginning of the first book... I agree with vinay and V. James's middle name should be Sirius. Not to mention that Sirius was James's very best friend at and when they left Hogwarts. Posted by C.J. from Utah on September 17, 2007 7:20 PM
Not a prequel, but a beginning. Actually what would be very interesting is the same story told from 4 different points of view by the four founders. Take their lives before Hogwarts, the founding of the school, the early years, the creation of the Sorting Hat, and then the split but tell it in a book from each founder's point of view. There is obviously some dramatic event that lead to the sundering of the founding four, and each would have lived that time differently than the other 3. Some questions i still want answered are 1. What did dudley saw when dementors attacked him? 2. Somewhere JKR said that there was a purpose why sirius had to the way he did. what was that? what about the veil at ministry? was it in essence same as described in case of 2nd brother of the tale of 3 brothers? 3. When and how lily n james potter and Alice and frank longbottom defied voldemort? 4. why there were no ly curse on other horcruxes? 5. What about the spouses of hogwarts teachers, JKR said there'll something about it in the DH (did it just mean the love interest of snape?) 6. Why Amelia bones was ed and why was emmeline vance captured and ed? for being with the order? Posted by swati from India on September 20, 2007 02:44 AM
