J.K. Rowling goes Beyond the Epilogue

J.K. Rowling has announced in a new interview with that the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was vague on purpose. She admitted her original epilogue was "a lot more detailed," but now that Book 7 is in our hands, J.K. no longer has to hold back any information about Harry Potter, and has now given us a lot of new details about the story and the characters.

I think a 7 book prequel about his life at Hogwarts. Then maybe a book or 2 about his rise to power and leading up to his first fall. Posted by M. J. I was amazed at the detail of the story. I, as a lot of other people do, want a prelude, or even possibly another book, it's hard to think that there won't be anymore Harry Potter books. Or she might make another series about problems in the future with Harry's ancestors. I don't know, just suggestions, but still, I would love to see another of these great books. I don't really understand why Jo wrote the epilogue. Was it written before and put away (as she said, in a locked place), so that she would resist pressure and advice about how to end the series? Was it a guide for her? At least, I appreciated it as the only funny chapter in a very dark novel.
I would enjoy reading any idea about those open questions.
Of course, the epilogue is frustrating for all of us. We would like to know more. But we'll have to be patient. If she was to try to answer half what we're asking her about what happens next, she would have to write dozens of biographies, stories and so on.
I believe she do some, at least because her fans and her editor be strongly demanding. But she also write different stuff. That's now her most difficult task: getting rid of this image of Harry sticking to her. Posted by herve from strasbourg on August 13, 2007 03:05 AM
i agree with china on page 1, a book on Harry's parents at school would be incredible! i know i get the encyclepedia the 1st day it comes out! Posted by KP313 from MIDLAND NC on August 13, 2007 07:02 AM
i think JK Rowling should write a book on one of Harry's sons adventures at Hogwarts, maybe Eaters come back? Who knows? Or she could re-write the books she's got in Ron or Hermione's point of view. Posted by Melissa from Canada on August 13, 2007 10:27 AM
One thing I've been wondering, are Harry, Ginny and their children residing at #12 Grimald Place? I would like to think that they are and that Kreacher is there, happy to be taking care of the Potters. Posted by dobby62 from memphis, tn on August 13, 2007 12:13 PM

i really loved the entire series, i have to agree with people that the epilogue was vague, but jk wanted that. What i got from it is that they all moved on and had normal lives, things were okay and it wrapped up the main characters, although i'd still like a lot more info. And i know some people disagree, i got that from reading the comments but i understand why Harry named his kid after Snape, i mean he originally came to the good side for Lilly, but by the end, he ed Dumbledore knowing that everyone would be against him and he helped Harry and agreed to protect him even after Lilly's when he could have walked away and rejoined the dark side, but he kept going, and he was mad at Dumbledore when he found out Harry had to and thought Dumbledore was waiting on Harry's "like a pig to the slaughter."
Overall i'm happy and i think the encyclopedia wrap up everything like we want without going to far as to possibly ruin the series with a sequel or wrap things up to tightly. One more thing, i would like to know what happened to the Dursleys! She needs to answer that one because it's bothering me. Dobby62, that's a good question: where do Ginny and Harry live after they get married? 12 Grimauld Place being such a dark place that had belonged forever to the Black family, I imagine Harry donated it to some good cause - a memorial to raise awareness about the dark arts, for instance. I see the family living in Godrics Hollow, or not far from the Burrow. After so much loneliness when he grew up, Harry would want his children to have lots of friends and cousins around. I wonder what happen to Lee Jordan. He probably becomes a media personality, that would be fun. Posted by parvios from amsterdam on August 15, 2007 07:21 AM
Hopelesslyobsessedharrypotterfangirl: only Jo can answer accurately, but at least we can guess that they were informed that Voldemort was out of the game, Harry safe; they came back to 4, Private Drive; Petunia cleaned the whole house with Javel water; they wiped off any trace of Harry's presence and lived quietly, avoiding any further contact with the wizarding world, and never talked about those regrettable events in their lifes.
Of course, we can imagine many other stories: that there memories were changed and they lived as if they had never heard about Lily, Harry and all the wizarding world; that Dudley decided to join Harry in spite of his parents' total disagreement; that Petunia applied for a quick wizard learning session at Hogwarts; that Harry decided to send them Kreacher to help Petunia do the cooking (so that you can imagine a whole bunch of funny situations).
