J.K. Rowling goes Beyond the Epilogue

J.K. Rowling has announced in a new interview with that the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was vague on purpose. She admitted her original epilogue was "a lot more detailed," but now that Book 7 is in our hands, J.K. no longer has to hold back any information about Harry Potter, and has now given us a lot of new details about the story and the characters.

I've read HP7 twice already and am planning on reading it again. I think there should be another book to explain all unanswered questions.

I've just finished reading the seventh book for the third time...I thought Luna might hook up with Dean, after the harrowing prison experience at the Malfoys'. Don't they always say that emotional stuff like that bonds people?

I knew from the moment I read it that Victoire was Bill and Fleur's daughter. Is Victoire supposed to be a feminine version of Victor? And if so, why would they name their kid after Victor Krum?...I personally think that Fleur was secretly in love with Krum, and that's why she invited him to her wedding. After all, they were in the Triwizard Cup together...

Also, I never pictured George marrying anyone. He's too much of a free spirit...or maybe that was just how he was with Fred. Now that the dynamic duo's broken up, I guess he needed to marry.

Bekah, J.K. hasn't said this, but I would guess that Victoire was named in honor of Harry's VICTORY over Voldemort. Victor Krum is just a coincidence. Or is it? Perhaps Victor Krum was named in honor of Dumbledore's victory over Grindelwald...

I keep getting a feeling that with all these new revelations of what happens to Harry Potter later in life, JK Rowling is actually dumbing down the tale. I thought the epilogue to last book was one of the worst pieces of writings from Rowling (the book, mind you, I believe is top notch). I'd have preferred to have the story ended when Harry, Ron and Hermione left the Headmaster's office at the end of the last chapter. The epilogue was unnecessary, and too corny. I'm sure a lot of people would have wanted to know what happens, but I think the way the last chapter ended was perfect. As if the epilogue wasn't enough, there are now interviews where Rowling says new stuff about who's doing what, and so on.

I personally think Luna and Neville shoul've ended up together. What happened to Kreacher? Why does Harry name his second child Albus Severus and not after Lupin and/or Sirius?

HP 7 is indeed one of the most remarkable pieces in the epic tale of Harry Potter. However, there obviously must be a sequel to this not necessarily continuing the story but answering the questions most of our readers have. It should be a book dedicated to about 1000 of FAQ'S. It is what everyone is wanting right now!

I feel eager to know more about Rubeus Hagrid! I'm sure he's still at Hogwarts, but maybe he built a bigger house for Grawp and him? Hasn't JKR made any allusion to our favourite half giant?

A few thoughts...

To those who want to know why "so many" people d, and why specific individuals d... this was a war. People in war, some dramatically and kind of purposefully, some in ways that seem random and shocking. We experienced this from harry's viewpoint, so, for example, we see the s he does and find out about the ones he doesn't personally witness just as he does. Very true to life. War is appalling and I think Rowling's depiction gives exactly the right feeling. We are heartbroken and horrified and angry, just like in "real life" wars, and that's masterful story telling.

For those who wished Teddy had been raised by Harry as Harry wished to have been raised by Sirius... Harry was 17 years old, unemployed, essentially (in American terms) still a high school student, when the Lupins d. Again, in a "real life" situation, the living relatives, especially grandparents if still alive, are the obvious people to assume custody of the baby Teddy was at the time. Harry would be a frequent visitor and, as he matured and had a family of his own, be like an uncle or something to the boy. It's unrealistic to think a 17-year-old should take on the responsibility for a baby.

As for what I'd like to see Rowling write, I would love some stories about the "Old Magic" such as the protection created by Lily's self-sacrifice... Set in the Potter universe, but presumably unrelated to the Potter storyline.

I also look forward to the probable encyclopedia, just for the tidbits Rowling assembled in the creation of the series but didn't explicitly include in it. I don't think any prequels or sequels are needed and I REALLY don't want stories about the kids of the Trio!

i now know why hermione liked reading her textbooks so much. she was raised by muggles and what was fact to wizards was like fiction to her until she got used to the wizarding world, and even then, she was fascinated by it.

I want to know what happened to Malfoy - what is he doing? Who did he marry? What is his status with Harry and company? We've known him from Book 1 so I was a little dissapointed that very little was revealed about him in the '19 years later' chapter.
