Is Harry the last horcrux?

by David Haber

In Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, we learned that, to make himself immortal, Lord Voldemort ripped his soul into seven pieces, and created six horcruxes (the seventh piece of his soul still residing in his body). We know or suspect about five of the horcruxes. Is it possible that Harry is the sixth horcrux? There are clues to suggest that he is.

I agree with Richard, except for one part. I don't think that Harry would himself. From what we know, it takes other people to bring Voldermort back through a Horcrux. I beleive that if Harry Potter s Voldermort, than one or two things happen: 1. The eaters might be scared to bring Voldermort back through the last Horcurx which would happen to be Harry. or 2. Harry can of any of Voldermorts followers as well.

Richard, there is a major flaw in your theory. You said that you think Harry would Voldemort then himself. Well, Voldemort cannot be ed until all of the other horcruxes have been destroyed, so he would not be able to until Harry ed himself (or d otherwise). But a Harry would not do much good in destroving Voldemort. So your order does not make any sense if Harry is, indeed, the last horcrux.

If the last word in DH is scar, the sentance that goes with it may be: "When Harry looks into a mirror, he is going to miss his scar". Several others at this site have posted the possibility that the scar itself may be a horcrux. An accidental one at that. The ring was damaged but not destroyed when DD destroyed its horcrux, and Harry would not have to removing his scar to destroy its horcrux. The diary was damaged when Harry thrust the poisoned tooth into it, but it was not destroyed either.

Harry is NOT the last Horcrux. But i think i know who is.
It is said that Voldemort went into Godric's Hollow that night with one Horcrux to few and it is also said that someone else was in the Hollow that night. Well i think that 'someone else' is the final Horcrux and i think that person is Dumbledore. Think about it:

1. This explains why he has James' cloak. Dumbledore SPECIFICALLY says that "James left it in my possession before he d"
2. Why wouldn't Voldemort make the most powerful wizard a Horcrux. he isn't likely to be ed easily.
3. This explains why Snape is a good-guy even though he ed Dumbledore. Dumbledore knew Harry wouldn't be able to do it, so he got Snape to do it
4. This ALSO explains why near the end of Goblet of Fire, Harry says he thinks he saw "a glint of triumph" in Dumbledores eyes when he recounts what happened in the graveyard. And also Rowling said that the 'glint' is significant.
5. You may be thinking, why then would Voldemort send Draco to him? Possibly because he realised that Dumbledore figured out his Horcrux secret and he thought its best to sacrifice one rather than have them all destroyed.

It ties up a few loose ends.

What do you all think?

Michelle, I think that is a very good theory. But then again alot of people that have posted on this website beleive that Dumbledore did not really . And have they all pointed out that there are many reasons for beleiveing this. One more thing if Dumbledore was actually at Godric's Hollow, then he would not need the Cloak to be invisible. Any why would Dumbledore let Voldermort make him into a Horcrux?

Folks, This is great, you guys obviously love this stuff (JKR would be so happy that so many people have embraced the works she has created)...I love the theories and plot lines that you are all coming up with.

I suppose when I said that Harry would himself I didn't go into any detail of how I thought that might play out in the plot. I can't imagine what's going on in the mind of such a creative writer as JKR, and I don't know how a Horcrux (especially the last one) releases the soul fragment but...

He s Voldemort's physical body (an epic battle and assuming all other Horcruxes are destroyed by this point), then the battle begins within Harry himself. The last fragment of Lord Voldemort starts to posses Harry (as he did near the end of OotP) and the struggle begins...all the pain, all the memories and then finally...all the love, that is such a deep fundemental part of Harry. Then, as Harry starts to overcome the grip of the Dark lord (as he did in OooP), Harry's takes control and he places the tip of his wand to his scar and screams (with absolute purpose)....

"Avada Kedavera"...a flash and then...

No idea what happens next, other than that Vodemort is totally destroyed (e.g. no soul). This would be one of the "somethings are worse than " situations that Dumbledore had described.

If the plot plays out anything like that, I don't really want to anticipate what becomes of Harry (I would only want JKR to know what that is, until I pick up the book this summer).

I just think that whatever Harry has to do involve the most supreme of sacrifices (and that it be a powerfully emotional read for all).

I sincerely do hope Harry survives to become Hogwarts DADA teacher, but bear in mind that JKR has hinted at closing the door after the 7th book (so Harry either has to or be left a squib, possible scar-less, as a result - either way no more magic adventures).

J.K. said that in the seventh book, two characters would . It can t be Voldermort and Harry because it seems to be very obvious.. So, Harry can t be an horcrux..because if he were a horcrux voldermort and harry would have to .

Ana has an excellant point! If Harry was the last horcrux, someone would have to him to make Voldemort too! The only flaw in the plan is that I believe Harry would himself to Voldemort. You see? Harry is very brave and he wants Voldemort gone so badly that I don't doubt he would destroy himself so that the rest of the world could live in peace with Voldy gone.

Richard, wow---powerful. I just hope Harry can pull it off...and lives to talk about it.

Ana, i thought that JKR said that she was going to off two more major characters...not just two. That was in addition to those originally planned. I know she said that both "goos" and "bads" were going to have to go.

Does anyone know for sure? Dave Haber?

We dont know exactly HOW a horcrux is made. All we know is that it has to be done after a . Maybe Dumbledore COULDN'T stop it, just like no one can stop the Avada Kedavra curse.

Posted by Michelle from Sydney on February 17, 2007 8:13 PM

Michelle,
If Dumbledore is a horcrux, I don't understand how that would account for his glint of triumph.

I have read this article with great interest and just wanted to add my views on this subject:

I believe that the reason Harry did not on that night was because Voldemort, wasn't trying to him, but was implanting a Horcrux. Harry Ended up being a part of him. Harry has his powers, personal traits etc. I think the reason Voldemort turned into a wandering soul/spirit, was not because Harry defeated him exactly, but because his soul had had enough of the constant ripping, and being made into Horcruxes, that after the 7th time, his body just gave up. After-all, nobody else has managed to do it, as many times, so he wasn't to know of this. This explains why he was turned into a wandering soul, and how it happened right after he ed James and Lilly, and attacked Harry. The ing curse leaves no marks, while Horcruxes may leave marks i.e. Harry's scar. this may also explain why they can sense each other's presence, etc.
