Harry Potter's last word: Write your own Book 7 ending

In an interview in 2005, J.K. Rowling confirmed that, as of that time, the last word in the final Harry Potter book was "scar". How do you imagine the final page of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will look? Write your own ending for the book and share it with us! The only requirements: Please write one to three paragraphs max, and the last word of your entry must be "scar".

UPDATE: The Last Word is No Longer Scar!

Friday night (7/6/07) on the Jonathan Ross show on the BBC, J.K. was asked if "scar" still the last word in the book, as had been reported, and she said, "Scar? It was for ages, and now it's not. Scar is quite near the end, but it's not the last word." So, please continue with our three paragraph fantasy endings, but you no longer have to make "scar" the last word if you don't want...

The sounds of screaming suddenly disappeared. The smoke is starting to clear up. "Harry? Ron? where are you guys?" Hermione asked. "I'm here Hermione." Ron answered. "Ron? Do you know wheres harry?" Hermione asked. "I last saw him over there with Neville and Snape fighting with Voldemrt."

When they were looking for Harry, they stumbled upon a body. Motionless and is indistinguishable. "Do you know who this is?" one of the ministry magic worker asked. Both of them came closer and tried to determine who it is because the face was full of wounds. Both of them sighed when they brushed off the dust that was on the bodys forehead and what they saw was a scar.

The colour green wasn't new to him, but the feeling that followed was. He could feel himself disappearing. A horrible shrieking was heard in his mind. Suddenly he realised - HE was the last Horcrux! "is this ?" Harry thought to himself, grateful that if he d, he would destroy the second last fragment. "hopefully, someone would come along and destroy Voldy". He could faintly hear Voldemort laughing maniacally in the distance? He couldn't really tell. Slowly, three pale, semi-transparent figures seemingly materialised. "Harry, you haven't d, your time is not up." "Yes," this figure chuckled. "seems like Voldemort and Lily had the same ideas. Your mother sealed a part of your soul into Voldemort, as he did to you. Horcruxes can be made by extreme evil, but also by selfless love." "Go Harry, now that you - Voldemort, has destroyed the last horcrux, Arise Harry! Fufil the prophecy!" "Focus on you body, Harry, picturing yourself going back in, that is how..." The voice drifted off as Harry did just that.

Harry opened his eyes. He was alive. Stiff, from the temporary , but pretty much alive. With all the and energy he could muster, he jumped, latching himself onto Voldemort, grabbing him before he had a chance to react. "Kanone!" Voldemort's eyes widened. This had to be a dream. The boy he just ed was grabbing him, a fire dancing in his eyes. A bolt of pure energy, energy so concentrated it was cackling with life, was coming towards him. He hurriedly tried to throw up a shield, only to find his arms bound to himself thick, vine-like cords. The blast of energy hit him right in the stomach. the force of the blast threw Voldemort back no less than five metres, effectively destroying the cords binding him. Voldemort smirked in triumph. THAT level of power in a close range spell would not him. He looked up at harry, who had his back turned on him, currently trying to recover from the spell he used, which threw him straight into a wall. "How dare he!" Voldemort thought "how dare he belittle me" He raised his wand. "AVADA KEDAV-" was his last words as he fell past a piece of velvety material. Harry turned as the curse was shouted. Had he missed? He hoped not. That was his only chance. He looked back and saw that the room was peaceful, only the veil fluttering slightly. Harry smirked, he did it! HE, Harry Potter, had vanquished the Dark Lord once and for all.

As he walked past a mirror on his face. Something changed. Some thing was definitely MISSING. Was it the pimples? The freckles? he dismissed it with a small chuckle. He vanquished the Dark Lord, for heaven's sake. He didn't have to care. Then he stopped. The realization hit him like one of Ron's blows to his head. The Legacy of Voldemort was gone, along with the its creator. Harry was very relieved. Who would want to live their whole lives with such an ugly scar?

No, It didn't just happen, thought harry. The last person he would expect to assist Voldemort was Neville.

Neville stood infront of him, both of them panting. Neville said, "Ha ha! I thought it would be harder to Ron and Hermione, but Hermione was too concentrated on you, she didn't even see I made the Avada Kedavara curse, but since she had sirius's mirror held, it hit Ron."

Harry was shocked, he couldn't move, he stared at his wand on the ground, 3 steps away from him, but he couldn't pick it up. "Avada kedavara!" Harry fell, he d before he hit the floor. On Neville's forehead appeared a scar.

....and as Harry hit the floor, he awoke in his bedroom on Privet Drive.

"Phew" he turned to tell Hedwig "it was only a..." but he broke off seeing that Hedwig's cage was empty. He began to search his bedroom for her, not registering the way he was gliding accross his room. And as he passed his mirror, he couldnt help but notice that he looked different. A closer look revealed that...He was Hedwig! He had somehow been transformed into his snowy owl!

"oh no!" he hooted "now no one recognize me!" he began--until he saw that he still had his lightening-shaped scar...

The clock was ticking. She looked up at it she knew they didn't have long left. Why did Trelawney as her last phrophecy foresee this? Hermione turned back to look at Harry.
"Get out of here, and send a message to..."
Harry coughed.
"To who?"
"To..."
Hermione suddenly realized he was . But slowly Hermione realized that Harry had no scar.

...Harry's body lay there limp, pale as Ron, who lay there beside him. In the distance, a cold cruel laugh could be heard. Hermione, who had been next to Harry, stood up in fear and anger, as Neville followed. Avada Kedavra! shouted the same cold cruel voice. Neville was ready. As the jet of green light struck Hermione, Neville seized his chance.

Avada Kedavra! shouted Neville! There could be heard a distant thump, where voldemort's body lay there, immobilized; .

Neville looked back down at Harry, where, in the thick fog, he could see a lightning shaped scar...

... Harry knew, that, because he was the last Horcrux, he would need to perish before Voldemort could . Was this Voldemort's plan? Avada Kedavra! screamed a cold cruel voice. A jet of green light shot from a distant wand and struck Harry in the chest. Neville, who had been cowardous to show his face, now rose to the occasion. He knew he had to do something.

"Well, well, well." said the same cold cruel voice. "Looks like you're out of alternatives" said Vordemort maliciously. "Not yet, I'm not" said Neville confidently.

Before Voldemort could reply in yet another cold, cruel, voice, Neville seized his chance and, as loud a voice as he could muster, screamed the words "Avada Kedavra!" There, in front of Neville, lay the body of the man who had given Harry his scar.

Harry knew there wasn't going to be anymore Eaters or any Dark Lords. He had just realized that all his years in Hogwarts had helped him to become one of the greatest wizards to Lord Voldemort. He had also turned his worst enemy, Draco Malfoy, in to one of his friends. What was left was now nothing but a scar...

Harry was sitting, silent tears running down his eyes. Some thing had happened which should not have happened. Ron Weasley was . Harry looked at his body. Ron d protecting him. Then he looked beside Rons body and suddenly a smile curled on his face. He had ed Lord Voldemort!
Beside Harry was Hermione and Rons family- Ginny, Fred, George, Percy, Bill, Charlie, Arthur and Molly Weasley all in great sorrow.
The battle was over. Harry had destroyed all of the horcruxes. Then Hermione pointed something to Harry. Something was different- there was no scar...

Voldemort failed to push Slytherins locket away. Harry caught it."Yes!" Harry yelled. "No!" yelled Voldemort. And stepped back in chock and stood over the veil. Harry got an idea. He took the heavy locket screamed "Catch!" and threw it right into Voldemorts chest. The height was enough to make him loose balance and he fell in to the veil.

Then he remembered, the last horcrux was not yet destroyed. He felt a horrible pain in his scar but it would soon end he knew what to do. He pointed hes wand to the scar and screamed: "Avada Kedavra!".

It was over, he knew it. He stood in a room without walls. It was all pearly white. He saw the Mirror of Erised. He looked in it. There he saw his parents, his mother laid her hand on his shoulder. Harry stretched for her hand, and now finally he felt it. They just stood and smiled at each other.

Then Harry looked at himself in the mirror and smiled. "Yeah, it is realy over" he thought. Finally it was gone--the scar.

Harry stepped back suddenly as the ruins of the room came into view. The only thing left, whole and unaffected as before the battle, was the veiled archway standing proudly at the bottom of the steps, on a raised stone dias, as if waiting.

"Harry..." a voice suddenly croaked, "...you now feel what it is like to - you see your dear mudblood mother soon, Harry." The last thing Harry saw was a green flash and then - silence. If this was , it wasn't too bad - the fog seemed to be clearing and everything was coming back into focus.

The last things Harry saw before he collapsed were the bos strewn everywhere, the bos of Lupin, Percy, Snape, Ginny and (he couldn't believe it), Voldemort. The curse had once again rebounded on its castor - but this time Lord Voldemort would not be roeborn. This time he had no horcruxes and no means to come back to life. The boy who lived had finally defeated Voldemort - all thanks to his own scar.
