Final Deathly Hallows Debates: Who Lives and Who Dies?

We know for sure that some characters are going to die in Deathly Hallows. Last year in an interview, J.K. Rowling said that two characters die who she had not originally thought would die in the end of the story. That means at least two characters die, but probably more. And that's probably not counting Harry and/or Voldemort. So who lives and who dies? Tell us who you think will die, and more importantly, why you think so.

Horrible premonition occured to me this morning...

Ron and Hermionie both survive. And Ron visits Hermionie in St. Mungo's every day for the rest of his life.

Hope I'm no seer!

Kellie - I like the "happily ever after" idea and even though many don't want an ending like that I really want it to end good. But I don't know that it can possibly be that good.

Regarding the Malfoys, I don't think Lucius could turn out good. I have hope for Draco and would love to see him come over to Harry for protection. And I think if that happens Draco and Harry may have the Snape and Black kind of relationship, where they are on the same side but still don't really like each other.

To those who are talking about the "Dumbledore is a horcrux" theory. This is insane. Dumbledore could not be a Horcrux. He would be aware of it. The only "living thing" that so far has the support of theory to be a Horcrux is Nagini, for reasons outline by Dumbledore in Half-Blood Prince. But Voldemort does not, has never, and not have control over Dumbledore. Therefore, Dumbledore cannot be a Horcrux.

That said, the Unbreakable Vow bit mentioned above is actually a fantastic theory! It makes perfect sense in thinking about how Dumbledore trusts Snape beyond anyone else's protestations; how completely evil Snape acts towards the students he doesn't like -- he doesn't like Harry because he didn't like James, but he made a promise to Dumbledore, and therefore can only snarl and be hateful towards Harry and those closest to him. Good thinkin'!

Okay, So Harry Potter comes out tomorrow. I love Harry Potter, yeah, I know, it's just a book, but who cares? I love the book. So this is the end of Harry. It's sad. But I want to say what I think happen before it comes out. Or at least my hopes that happen in book # 7. I have 15 things I think happen from evidence from the book, outside knowledge, my own opinion, and other peoples suggestions.

1. Snape is a hero. He was always a non-supporter of Voldemort and has always been there to help Dumbledore.

2. I am not so sure that Dumbledore is . He might somehow not be . What if he is a ghost? But the book also said that professors of Hogwarts get their painting done for the office. Therefore, if Dumbledore is really , Dumbledore could somehow be alive with his painting in his old office. Dumbledore might help Harry defeat Voldemort. That and I think Dumbledores Brother Albeforth, be a huge impact in book 7.

3. Hermionie and Ron live and they get married and have many kids with bushy, bright red hair and freckles and are the brightest in their class. Ron prove himself and no longer be just another Weasley kid. Hermionie use her wits but also use her courage to prove shes not just another brainiac.

4. Hogwarts does not close. Ever. End of story.

5. Some way or another Neville be a huge impact in book 7. Hopefully something happens to Bellatrix. I cannot actually see Neville ing Bellatrix. is for dark wizards and Neville has always been portrayed as an innocent, brave, and righteous character. Him ing Bellatrix would make him as bad as her. I think she is ed but not be Neville, but he shows her mercy, which is far more powerful then ing her. This in turn makes his grandmother proud of him.

6. This is one I am not sure about. If Harry lives or s. Something in me thinks he not . I know for sure there be a confrontation with Voldemort. There was that wand trouble in book 4- so I think there be wand problems again. Also Voldemorts fear of be played, and Harrys love I think concur Voldemort. Possibly. Yet, I think Voldemort has to . To finalize my decision, Harry does not and he gets back to together with Ginny. I hope it works out with them but I am not sure. Ginny is made to be similar to Lilly. I dont think this is mere coincidence. In psychology we are taught one hypotheses of psychological development is that as adults, we search for a partner in life who resembles the parents figure of the opposite sex. Ginny resembling Lilly could be that. Possibly?

7. One of the horocrux's that Voldemort used are tied in Harry's past, i.e his parent's . Voldemorts regime was based upon if Voldemort was able to his marked equal or not. The of Harrys parents is so significant that it would be a justifiable assumption that he would make the parents a victorious thing. Him using something his parents owned a horocrux would be some sick thing that Voldemort would use. Esp., with the idea that it would be special to Harry and Harry would have to that special object.

8. Crookshanks, Hermionie's cat, is an animageous. My cousin said this and it made sense somehow to me. Sirius talks to Crookshanks being able to communicate with him and help him in the castle. Key characters have also been animageous. Examples include, Sirius, Rita, Pettigrew, McGonagal, and Harrys father. Crookshanks has shown a remarkable ability to always be there in the story, slowly egging on the plot. So why not crookshanks be a animageous?

9. Malfoy becomes good with the help of Snape. My friend Erica and I were talking about how Voldemort asks Malfoy as a proof of devotion to his father b/c he didnt finish his mission with officially ing Dumbledore. It was an interesting thought that we could see Voldemort asking Malfoy. I also think there can be a decision in which Malfoy has to decide to Hermionie or not. If he doesn't he have broken his whole pure blood perspectives.

10. I hate this, but Dobby might saving Harry. Another parallel that Voldemort doesn't understand, love.

11. Neville becomes a herbiology teacher.

12. Pettigrew s Greyback, the werewolf, repaying Harry's . He has the silver hand, which can be stabbed into Greybacks heart- ing him.

13. As far as the prophecy goes, I don't hold too much weight to it, well, at least I do and I don't. Dumbledore said that Voldemort chose who to mark as his equal. I.e. Neville or Harry. Voldemort chose who it was. This gives the impression that there is some level of control over destiny. I think that you can change the prophecy.

14. If Fred and George I cry and be sad until no end. They are the comic relief in the book, they are always there to make us smile, even when it is a very tragic part of the book. They represent mischievous boy hood, and yet, they still remain untouched by Voldemorts cruelties.

15. Olivander has, A touch of destiny (Tia Dalma- POTC) He was one of the first people who impacted Harrys life, and coincidently first led on to Harrys past with Voldemort. He also possibly saved Harrys life by allowing Harry to purchase the wand from the same phoenix wand as Voldemorts. (When their wands locked in book # 4) He supplies students alike with their first official taste of being an official witch/ wizard. Also in the book, the readers imagination is first sparked primarily in Olivanders store, and makes the reader begin to believe that Harry is a wizard. (Magic is also first legally used in his store) The Abduction of Olivander is solely for the purpose of him making a new and for Voldemort- therefore ending the wand locking in his other encounters with Harry.

Harry is most likely a horcrux although Voldemort did not intend for him to be one. Because Nagini is a horcrux it is proven possible for a living thing to be one. Dumbledore pointed out the control and connection Voldemort and Nagini have because they are linked through the horcrux. This connection sounds just like the connection between Voldemort and Harry. Also, in the beginning of The Goblet of Fire, Harry saw from the perspective of Nagini who as I have already stated is a horcrux. Harry does not have the power to see through the eyes of random snakes unless they are connected by the pieces of Voldemort's sould in both of them. It is completely possible and likely probable for Harry to be an unknown horcrux.

I think Snape , and Neville. I think that Snape is good and that he tries to help Harry. I hope Harry, Ron and Hermione survive.

Just wanted to express my appreciation for a great web-site. it was just what I needed, especially as I have just realised, only hours before the release of the final book, that I hardly remember anything from the HBP. Could anyone please help me by answering some questions?

1. What exactly is Godric's Hollow? When did it appear in the books?
2. How did Dumbledore get hold of Marvolo Gaunt's ring and how did he find out that it was a horcrux?
3. Exactly what was included in Snape's Unbreakable vow?
4. Who is Mundungus?
Thanks!

Furthermore, I would just like to add my thoughts on some of the theories...
having read what Fredrik from Sweden and Aletta from Holland said about the initials R.A.B. being different in different languages I am completely convinced that it was Regulus Black who took the real locket.
I definately don't think that Neville betray Harry and the others,I believe he is truly good and is prepared to do right thing at all times. But he play an important part in the final battle against evil.
