Final Deathly Hallows Debates: Who Lives and Who Dies?

We know for sure that some characters are going to die in Deathly Hallows. Last year in an interview, J.K. Rowling said that two characters die who she had not originally thought would die in the end of the story. That means at least two characters die, but probably more. And that's probably not counting Harry and/or Voldemort. So who lives and who dies? Tell us who you think will die, and more importantly, why you think so.

Just reread the Ministry of Magic fight in OotP. Everyone thinks the room with the veiled archway is going to be important in the DH. Not saying it won't, but I totally forgot about the door HP and the rest of the DA couldn't open. Will what's behind that door figure in the final battle with Voldemort, and could that be what is shown on the US cover of DH?

The end is near, and I suppose we are all trying to reread the 6 books. Afterwards, I have come to the conclusion that I really want Snape to live. In so many ways, his life has been just as if not more tragic than HP's. I hope at least his sacrifice is noted by the magic community. In some ways, JKR out did herself making us hate Snape. That may be more of an accomplishment than anything else she has done.

I'm only sure about one character, Ron.
He's usually the coward in most situations, but I believe that he'll become heroic in the very end and for someone's (probably Harry's sake).

I believe that if Harry lives Draco live as well. If Harry s, so does Draco. They seem like parallel characters.

I don't think Harry , his scar is a horcrux because a bit of voldemort is in him. However if Voldemort need full power won't he have to take parts of his sould back from the Horcruxes so I think that Harry be defeated and have the horcrux removed as a distraction then voldemort, with the help of neville.

"JKR is ending the series for good, she doesn't want other authors ruining her idea by continuing the plot."

I have seen this reasoning many times and it is unbelievable to me that anyone can think another author can just steal another author's intellectual property. It can't happen without her consent. So, if this is your reason for thinking Harry , you need to re-think your position within the confines of the legal system.

I was wondering where everybody gets the idea that Harry's the last horcrux! i mean, how is that possible, and also why people think that Snape loved Lily Evans... i mean, he DID call her a mudblood...

i think that jk wants to be the best author ever, and wants to do something nobody has ever done or expects. therefore, even though i think it is highly unlikely, it might be that harry fail. voldemort survive, and evil triumph. i have yet to see a story like this one where the bad guys win, it would be sad yet interesting if that happened.

Smartkid: The bad guys won in the Lemony Snicket books, and when the last book finally came out, nobody cared...

I have just finished reading an interview with JKR and realized something--- Ron's has a large possibility of ! Because in the interview, she was asked, "You have told us that two main characters , well can you tell us which ones?" and she said, "No, I cannot tell you who s, but I can tell you this: Fellow writers have told me that if you off THE main character in the last book, the public gets very mad. But if you ONE OF the main characters, the public gets less mad." Well, from that she's suggesting that she might not Harry, but Ron or Hermione. Also, I was reading a news story on Yahoo! about how the first 495 pages from DH have been posted on the Internet and it said that the people who have indeed read it, are worrying about the fate about Harry's best pal, Ron. I think that's enough information to say that it's a large possibility that Ron at the end of DH.

Dave Haber from LA i liked your comment mostly because i didn't get the ending to "a series of unfortunate events"
i dont get wether or not count olaf changed good or was still evil when he d?
i thought that book was such a letdown...

also i agree with Sushi because i also think Snape loving Lily Evans Potter and Harry (or his scar) being a horcrux is the stupidestthing ever.

and i think i should just fit in:
why does voldemort have such a phobia thing?

I think that Harry survive, but Voldemort ...at least I hope so. Lupin seems like he , and Mundungus, and Minerva McGonagall. I think that Ginny (sacrifice herself for Harry) and Neville return to Hogwarts to teach Potions...(for him to teach Herbology would be way to obvious). Hagrid , and Grawp live on in the Forest. I also think that Mr. Weasley .

PS - Dave Haber, thankyou so much for creating this website - it helps pass the time, which, thankfully, is now very short...looking forward to new articles...

Sushi:

I was thinking that it wouldnt be Harry who is a horcrux, but maybe a part of him, like his hand, or his skull, which would be possible because they ARE things.

smartkid:

That would completely wreck the series, I think Harry but Voldemort as well. Because if;
*Neither it wrecks the series
*Only Harry s it wrecks the series.
*Only Voldemort s it wrecks the series (And i dont really think jk wanted that)
*If both everybodys happy

Dave Haber;

Too true, It would have to be pulled off exceptionally well for only Harry to and I think that if she s off Harry then Voldemort has to go too.
