Final Deathly Hallows Debates: Who Lives and Who Dies?

We know for sure that some characters are going to die in Deathly Hallows. Last year in an interview, J.K. Rowling said that two characters die who she had not originally thought would die in the end of the story. That means at least two characters die, but probably more. And that's probably not counting Harry and/or Voldemort. So who lives and who dies? Tell us who you think will die, and more importantly, why you think so.

I think almost the entire Order can do the unforgivable curses easily. They just don't because decent wizards don't use darc majick. But in some situations I think we'll see em' bust off a ing curse or two.

hmmm... Grawp... Man I guess I overlooked him for a second. It's kinda funny I'd forget him after mentioning him in a dream team earlier. And now that I think about it Hagrid's one tough custumor, they're gonna have a job taking him out.

Hagrid also has to live for Madame Olympe Maxime (from Beauxbatons).

I think...mabye one of the twins Fred or George?
and I also belive that lupin or Hagrid . I think atleast 1 in the Weasley family have to , Ron or Mr weasly or..could it be Ginny? Ginny could because Harry loves her..uh Harry loves Ron too?

As J.K told us, "One character got a reprieve, but I have to say two that I didn't intend to ...A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil...They go for the main characters...well, I do".

I also think that Neville and Snape both for good reasons...Snape might try to destroy one of Voldemort's horcruxses...he does, but gets injured and shortly after, mabye in the arms of Harry himself?

I think it would be hard to Hagrid. If you remember in OotP when attacked, the spells bounced off him because of his giant-blood.

I still wonder in the back of my mind if Harry can make it out alive. I've always discounted the horcrux theory. I think if it were possible Dumbledore would have thought about it. At the end of GoF, there is the twinkle of a smile in Dumbledore's eyes when Harry told him about Voldemort using his blood to regenerate his body. This be significant for Harry in a way that Voldemort did not realize.

I know Dumbledore doesn't think of in the same way that Voldemort does, but he was also very old at the time of his demise. I can't believe he would have prepped Harry the way he did in HBP if he thought Harry would have to (if he were a horcrux). Because although Dumbledore didn't fear , would he expect a 17 year old to be that sacrificing?

It's not so much that Hagrid doesn't have anyone to live for. While it's true that Grawp is a part of his life, it seems that Hagrid's purpose from here on out be to become the next person to help Harry in his quest.

For example, Hagrid is the only living person that we know of that knows where Godric's Hollow is. Harry surely need to use Hagrid in order to get there. Hagrid undoubtedly have information that is useful to Harry in this book.

Now, if you take a look at the last two books: we had the of Sirius and Dumbledore...two characters that meant a great deal to Harry, and two characters that have shown that they would help him in any way shape or form. Hagrid is most certainly that, which makes him the most likely candidate to in this book, assuming she sticks with this trend.

Pertaining to unforgiveable curses, I'm fairly sure its not true that Harry has to learn them. Why would he? I doubt that it was ever a teaching of Dumbledore, as head of the Order of the Phoenix, and one of the wisest Wizards ever, to use an unforgiveable curse in order to . As I stated before, Dumbledore has stated that there are worse things than , and the Order of the Phoenix surely knows some way to defeat the dark side by use of something that represents "light," rather than dark. Whether we know what this is yet, I don't think we do.

As far as Neville using one..I know you have to mean them, but he's not a er, I don't even think as it pertains to Bellatrix that he be one. I really don't see JK turning her good side characters into ers....there are surely ways to defeat the dark side by means of something other than an unforgiveable curse. We know that Love pretty much has some crazy power too...we surely find out more.

I think the following :

Dudley Dursley and/or Vernon Dursley. This give Petunia Dursley a reason to tell Harry all she knows.

Ron Weasley. He wanted to be recognized on his own; what's a better way than saving Harry. Also, Herimone Granger is less likely to marry and end up being Trelawney's old maid (and eventually become headmistress at Hogworts).

Hagrid. He's a father figure to Harry and this type of relationship is a kiss of .

Ginny Weasley. Her could fill Harry with enough anger/rage/emotion to do an A.K. curse on Voldemort.

Voldemort. He's the villian and must .

Bellatrix Lestrange. Neville Longbottom should be able to avenge his parents, and she's too dangerous to remain alive.

Draco Malfoy or Lucius Malfoy. The of one might cause the other to betray Voldemort; if not, I think Narcissa Malfoy wouldn't hesitate to betray Voldemort to protect 'her only son'.

Greyback Lupin in a werewolf fight. Pettigrew Greyback by turning his silver hand into a weapon.

I'm relucant to put Snape in the list. I can actually see Rowling letting him live to remain a bitter professor at Hogworths. Although, Snape probably .

I think that Harry and Voldemort . Here is why. First Dumbledore knows that Harry's scar is a horcrux (that's how Harry can figure out that Voldemort is coming back to power or how he can be inside voldemort) and in the first book dumbledore said that the scar could be important, so we shouldn't remove it (something along the lines of that) so anyways dumbledore knew that Harry's scar was a horcrux so here was his plan, Have Harry destroy all the horcruxes then harry leaving Voldemort mortal and Snape comes along and s Voldy. That is probably one of the main reasons he choose to have himself ed by Snape. (Too many reasons for Snape ing dumbledore on dumbledore's orders, perhaps Fawkes didn't come on Dumbledore's orders or else he could have swallowed the curse). SO harry and Voldemort are going to and Snapes true purpose and why dumbledore trusts him is revealed.

For the minor characters, it probably be either Lupin or Hagrid (being a fatherly role to harry). Lupin probably have a huge werewolf fight with Greyback (hope so) and Wormtail probably return the favor for harry in some way. There certainly be many eaters who because they have to .

I think that neville and voldemort because, after a duel between harry and voldemort, harry s his enemy... but the chosen one is neville

I believe that Lupin and Pettigrew , so the 4 marauders rest together in peace. Also Hagrid probably .

I don't think that any of the trio because Rowling was asked which 5 characters she would invite to dinner, she said Harry, Ron, and Hermione. but then she stopped, asking, "Am I allowed to invite people?"

i think the two way mirror play and important part. snape in not as bad as everyone thinks. I think snape had already made an unbreakable vow with dumbledore before he made it with narcissa. i hoping ginny doesn't i like to see what see wanted all threw the books come true. I believe snape , mr weasly, and hagrid.
