Final Deathly Hallows Debates: Who Lives and Who Dies?

We know for sure that some characters are going to die in Deathly Hallows. Last year in an interview, J.K. Rowling said that two characters die who she had not originally thought would die in the end of the story. That means at least two characters die, but probably more. And that's probably not counting Harry and/or Voldemort. So who lives and who dies? Tell us who you think will die, and more importantly, why you think so.

Hagrid and Hermoine for sure, but i think lupin and Kingsley receive a serious injury like Mr weasley had in book 5...It would be good if Voldy s, but i know he wont...JKR wont want a straight forward ending to her fantastic series...

I know Voldemort is gonna , otherwise there is no ending, and I hope the trio stay alive! Maybe Snape is going to , or Wormtail...

I think Draco, Pettigrew, Voldemort, and unfortunately Harry . Draco still has a part to play, maybe he comes to the right side and s in a battle or he be ed by one of the Eaters. Pettigrew has a to pay. I think he sacrifices himself. Voldemort be ed by Harry and Harry himself s due to his injuries.

im just going to list who i think , but im not going to list why. it would take way too long.

here it is:

1. Voldemort
2. Snape
3. Ron
4. Hagrid
5. Greyback
6. Bellatrix

-OR i think it could play out like this:

1. Voldemort
2. Harry
3. Ginny
4. McGonagall
5. Hagrid
6. Bill
7. Malfoy
8. Greyback

they are too different theories that i have, and both are pretty likely. i just cant wait for the book to come out so i can see whether im right on either of them, even though i doubt i be.

and also, ginny and harry only if they both . harry wont while ginny live, and vice versa.

While I appreciate many of the comments and ideas listed here, I tend to disagree that any member of the good side intentionally any one...why? because they aren't ers...and we know that Dumbledore has always said that there are things worse than ..and that Voldemort, failing to recognize this, is his greatest weakness. In particular I've seen ideas that express that possibly Neville s Belatrix or maybe even Voldemort.

Do you really think Neville Longbottom use an unforgiveable curse? And do you really think that even if he tried, that it'd work? Probably not. My guess is that if any member of the Dark side s, it won't be because of an unforgiveable curse from the good side. As far as we know...Harry is the only one from the good side who has attempted to use an unforgiveable curse...even while in battle with the eaters. It doesn't just become the Avada Kedavra show during battle if you've all noticed. The unforgiveable curses are dark curses only used by the dark side. In no way a member of the good side use something dark to defeat dark. They use some other form of magic, or whatever may represent something like "light," to defeat dark.

As far as who s...I believe that everyone who has d in the HP series has d for some greater purpose. This continue as well in this story. Not only we find out more about the s of Sirius and Dumbledore, but we also understand why the characters in this book .
My guess is that Hagrid in some way. If you think about it too, he doesn't have much purpose left in his life...I hate to say that, but where does he go from here? He definitely help Harry in this book in a unique way and we once again be shocked and upset by a of someone who has become so close to Harry.

As far as any member of the trio ...I really don't think there is any purpose in it. Ron and Hermione have lives and careers to look forward to after Hogwarts, and with regards to Harry, I believe JK hasn't brought Harry through all of this journey just to him in the end....UNLESS of course she REWARDS him with in some that case, we would find out that (that happens to be feared so much by Voldemort) is in Fact a reward...and we know that Dumbledore always thought that was the next great adventure...

Did the prophecy say one had to the other? All I remember is "neither can live while the other survives".

Posted by Gary Coleman from Hogwarts on June 22, 2007 11:12 AM

the prophecy never actually said that one had to each other, but voldemort certainly would want to harry himself, and also, harry has made it his top (well next to top--he wants snape too. im not sure how that play out though) prority to voldemort.

Personally, I think that the last horcrux be Harry's scar, and that Voldemort unintenitonally placed it in Harry when he ed his parents. At the last minute, while dueling with the dark side, and Harry have destroyed all the other remaining horcruxes, he realize that he himself is a horcrux and either, find a way to and therefore Voldemort, or Voldemort some other way that JK has concocted.

Snape is obviously good, the only reason he ed Dumbledore was because Dumbledore ordered him to as to not make Bellatrix and Voldemort suspicious. Snape probably sacrifice himself for Harry.

Even though Wormtail has a to pay, I don't quite see him going over to the good side after betraying his best friends, James and Lily. Neither do I think that Draco go over to help Harry, it would waste all the years that they've hated each other, especially since the sectumsempra scene in Book 6.

I don't think Ron or Hermione , but if they do, they both .

As MattR said, most of the good guys aren't able to perform unforgivable curses, but there is some evidence that a few of them can.
Obviously, Harry has to learn to, because the prophecy says that one of them has to the other, and Avada Kedavra is the only ing curse. So even if he doesn't want to, he must learn to perform the unforgivable curses tok Voldemort. Not to mention his determination to cause Voldemort as much pain and Voldemort caused him.
Next, Lupin was proven able to perform the ing curse, as shown in the third book, when he and Sirius were about to Wormtail for betraying James and Lily.

I'm definately sure that voldemort because on the cover of the book there are two curtains and the curtain on harry's side is tied back but the one on Voldemort's side isnt so i think the curtain close on him and he wont be able to finish the act, that is, he .

other than that it could be anyone but im guessing aurors (or ex-aurors) like shacklebolt or mad eye and maybe even tonks. anyone close to or related with harry has a chance to because voldemort knows it cause harry paain and suffering wich weaken him.

The prophecy says that "one have to in the hand of the other". That means Voldy and Harry. In some tv shows and books some people can change the future and such things, maybe they can change the prophecy!

I don't think it'd be too hard for Neville to get with the program of the unforgivable curses. Basically you have to really mean it. That doesn't sound like a stretch when it comes to Neville and Bellatrix.

Monkeeshrines, good call on Hagrid I didn't think about him not having any thing left... except Fang, Buckbeak, and a strong drink. He probably it's the only noble thing left for him to do.

Not so fast! Hagrid DOES have someone to live for! Grawp!
