Final Deathly Hallows Debates: Who Lives and Who Dies?

We know for sure that some characters are going to die in Deathly Hallows. Last year in an interview, J.K. Rowling said that two characters die who she had not originally thought would die in the end of the story. That means at least two characters die, but probably more. And that's probably not counting Harry and/or Voldemort. So who lives and who dies? Tell us who you think will die, and more importantly, why you think so.

Well if Hermione s, then Ron s too, but i believe that the trio survives and the two who are Lupin and Hagrid.

Why is so many people so keen on Percy Weasly!? Ever since his "conversion" or commitment to the Ministry, he's been a rather insignificant factor to the story. I dont think JK waste her time on a traitor!

Harry and Voldemort both .

what if snape told voldemort that it was trelawney is the one who did the prophecy? he might her trying to get the prophecy from her which unlucky for her she doesn't remember doing. the way luna lovegood always is in a haze maybe she become the new teacher taking trelawney's place. how about ollivander? i think voldemort had him to make him a new wand then ed him. maybe dudley is a wizard, dumbledore had a spell on him keeping him from getting his powers, when dumbledore d it lifted the spell giving dudley his powers. maybe harry has to fight dudley and him or the twins hate him maybe they fight dudley and one of them gets ed and the other s dudley.

Lets not forget that JK has written these stories for youngsters. In years to come some young boy/girl discover Harry Potter and in one fantastic summer be able to read all seven books! Therefore they must be about good triumphing over evil as the then target aunce needs to know that right is right. I think to those too close to Harry would be the wrong message to give.

That said I think Narcissa Malfoy to protect Draco, who in turn help Harry (its never too late to do the right thing).

As for the other. Lets wait and see...

Yes, Dave, most definitely there be a lot of debate and discussion. That's a good thing... I've been wondering what the next 'chapter' is going to be in YOUR life! So, I'm glad to hear that Beyond Hogwarts is going to still be around for us to enjoy. Thank you.

Another thing I've been pondering. Am I the only one in the entire world who entertains the notion that Harry and Hermione might end up together? Or, even Harry and Luna (okay, stop laughing everyone!). I keep going back to that thought he had about her as they were talking just before he invited her to Slughorn's party (HBP, Ch. 15) -- "Luna was demonstrating her usual knack for speaking uncomfortable truths; he had never met anyone quite like her." She certainly appears to understand Harry in ways that others do not. I know it's a real long shot but just thought I'd toss it out there.

I really don't want the trio to , I already cried when Dumbledore d! I think I would lock myself in my room if Harry d, reading would never be the same again!

I think that harry's scar is going to be the final horcrux and that he may have to to get rid of his scar and to voldemort...
I really hope that's not the case though because if Harry s I am going into mourning.

I also think that Ginny, Ron, Hermoine, Hagrid, Snape, or Neville may .

This book's going to make me cry.

To Patti from Mill Creek, WA:

I think you are on the right track with the Harry/Luna connection. JKR already hinted that Harry & Ginny not be together in the long run. If Harry makes it, I could see him with Luna. She does get Harry even more than Hermione.

PKJ: How can you say that? Ginny has always loved Harry, from the first moment she saw him. All the other boyfriends were her just waiting for when Harry was free. And Harry, remember the tiger he felt in his stomach whenever Ginny was around? He was infatuated with Cho, but never described liking her that way.

Ginny is her mother, in more ways than one, and Harry, who also loves Molly as a mother, sees that in her too.

No, Harry and Ginny be together, there's no doubt about that in my mind.

Also, Ron and Hermione are a done deal. I'm not too sure about Luna and Neville, but its a possibility.

Assuming Harry Lives....
And assuming Snape is, as he is sure to be, a 'good guy'.
And assuming that Harry actually finds out that Snape always has been looking after Harry because of Harry's mother (Snape sees 'Lilly's Eyes' in Harry):

If we assume those facts, which I believe come to pass, then is it so impossible that Harry would return to teach at Hogwarts? As Hogwarts is the only real home he has ever known, even more so than The Burrow can it be Harry who returns? He would follow in the steps of being 'Dumbledore's man through and through'. He would ensure that 'he never be gone from Hogwarts as long as someone is loyal to him'...

Oddly, if he did so I believe he would then take the newly UNCURSED Defence Against the Dark Arts position. It would show that it was now uncuresed and it is his specialty. He wouldnt have to anybody and could live peacefully. And, stranger still, I believe he might begin to teach parts of that class sounding a little like Severus Snape (as Hermoine pointed out how they actually seemed to agree on parts of the subject). If it is not the actual ending... it certainly is one which is possible.

Dave from LA:

Sorry to bust your bubble, but you have to face the facts that JKR likes the dramatics. She has already said in interviews that it won't be the expected, and Harry/Ginny is too expected. Your ending is too predictable and "happily ever after".
You are also assuming that all those people be there in the end. I like your attitude, but you've got to think like JKR in the stretch run. She likes her surprises. We'll all see on July 21st.
