Final Deathly Hallows Debates: Unanswered Septology Questions

Like Hogwarts Castle itself, the Harry Potter books hold many mysteries, and have many hidden secrets. Hopefully, most of these mysteries will be answered in the final book. Is something funny going on at St. Mungos? What ever happened to Sirius' two-way mirrors? Where is Fawkes? There are so many others. What mystery are you most looking forward to being answered, and how do you think it will come out?

I'll bet you that what harry and voldemort are reaching for in the book cover is voldermort's last horcrux...harry needs to get hold of it to destroy it, and voldemort is pushing it away to protect it...it makes sense because as pointed out in an article on this site harry's hand is in a receptive position whereas voldemort's hand seems to be pushing something away. just a guess though.

"Chucklepea" from kingston:

I think your idea on the Hogwarts/Womping Willow are very creative, especially when Snape says that Womping Willow 'has been there before you (Ron and harry) were born.'

but i disagree about Snape accompanying Harry to the cave. Rowling already said that Dumbledore is definitely . And when harry was chasing after snape, snape revealed that he was the half-blood prince; i dont think even dumbledore knew about that...

i would like to point out something interesting to me, and i dont know if it would have to do with anything, but its still cool. In HBP, these are quotes from dumbledore:

(Page37) Dumbledore: "However, I don't think you need to worry about being attacked tonight."
Harry: "Why not, sir?"
Dumbledore: "YOU ARE WITH ME."

(Page578) Harry: "It's going to be all right, sir... I can Apparate us both back... Don't worry..."
Dumbledore: "I am not worried, Harry. I AM WITH YOU."

pretty cool, huh?

What I want to know: what is in Dumbledore's ? And especially: how much go to Harry? The Gaunt's Ring perhaps? Or Dumbledore's pensieve? And how whatever he gets, if he gets anything, help Harry in his battle against Voldemort? I'm really curious to find out...

I have a daft - probably pointless question. Why are letters addressed to 4 Privet Drive so precise?

Mr Harry Potter... The Cupboard Under the Stairs

Mr Harry Potter... The Smallest Bedroom

Mrs Petunia Dursley... The Kitchen (etc)

Do we have sneakoscope spyware installed in the fireplaces at this house?

I think we'll find out a lot more about Aberforth, Dumbledore's brother. He was mentioned in Order of the Phoenix when Moody was showing Harry a photo. I do wish to see the Mirror of Erised again, as it may play an important role. Also, I want to see who has the other mirror that Sirius has. Maybe he didn't take it, when they went to the ministry that night, and when he went behind the veil.

I want to know how a ghost becomes a ghost as well, and I want to know if it's important if Harry has his mother's eyes...
I think someone may have a horcrux, and when they see Harry with his mother's eyes, they may or may not give it to him...

I have a feeling the Chamber of Secrets come into play once more, after all, it is the chamber of SECRETS.

i think i got the reason why dumbledore didnt want to tell harry about his hand.
i think he reached INTO the veil to try and save sirius but couldnt.

when harry was in the hepzibah memory, voldemort mentioned goblin made armor, which is indestructable, could that be the last horcrux?

I do think the Mirror of Erised probably be very useful to Harry.. But you must remember that "This mirror give us neither knowledge or truth... It does not do to dwell on dreams, and forget to live.". Maybe the mirror has more tricks than we are aware of?

I have always said I think James, and so Harry, is the heir of Gryfindor, ever since the Chamber of Secrets. I can't think of any proof for this (except the fact only "a true Gryfindor" could have pulled the sword from the hat), it's just feels right. Like, the ultimate battle between the old friends turned enemies (Remember how Harry said that the name Riddle meant something to him, like "a friend he'd had when he was very small"?).

I think Dobby and Kreacher still be following Malfoy, as they were never told when to stop.

The very first time we see McGonagall, we are told she is not a woman to cross. I think she assist Harry in become an auror if it's the last thing she do.

The veil, and indeed, the whole Department of Mysteries, need more investigating. I have so many questions about that place, including why on EARTH do they have brains floating in stuff?

The question is often asked just how Harry find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes as the task seems impossible, I think the answer may be Slughorn.

In HBP, Harry is trying to obtain the memory from Slughorn that Dumbledore most desperately wants, and of course uses Felix Felicis and knows just what to do. Slughorn though is still very reluctant to give up the memory and says:

'But then... my dear boy... you're asking a great deal... you're asking me, in fact, to aid you in your attempt to destroy-' (HBP, UK, p.458)

Destroy? Destroy what? Horcruxes is my answer.

I think that Slughorn knows an awful lot more than he has so far said. He knew just what Gaunt's ring was when Dumbledore showed it to him, and Dumbledore is pretty adamant that Slughorn is to remain at Hogwarts. I think Slughorn could be the key to just what the Horcruxes are, and maybe even their locations.

I think oscar from IL has a good point about the a possible horcrux being indestructible goblin-made armour, as armour could easily be a relic of one of the founders, or an item or importance. Also, if I am not mistaken there is in fact body armour on the front cover of the British cover of ly Hallows.
I just finished re-reading Goblet of Fire and came across an interesting quote. On the top of page 613 of the British version, in the chapter "The Parting of the Ways", Cornelius Fudge is refusing to believe that Voldemort has come back. He says to Dumbledore "Forgive me, but I've heard of a curse scar acting as an alarm bell before..."
I wonder what exactly Fudge means by this. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious, but what curse scar as he heard of apart from Harry's that acts as an "alarm bell". Possibly the scar on Dumbledore's knee that resembles the London Underground, which could maybe be a remnant of his battle with Grindelwald? This is all guess-work, but just a thought...

hasnt noone realised that dumbledore has never ed anyone not even tried to. so why was draco's mum scared for draco to him, she must of been at school when dumbledore was teacher, she must know he would never harm a student, he doesnt even seem the type to give a detention out. so i got a funny feeling draco had to do something more, like of course letting the eaters in school. dumbledore would than any student or anyone...i also think dumbledore is (sorry to say) and yes harry talk to the portait in school, but where the other one be, because dont they all have a 2nd portait?
