Emmeline Vance: The Future Rosetta Stone

by Louis CasaBianca

Emmeline Vance appears in Order of the Phoenix for exactly 42 words, and yet she may very well be the key to understanding Snape, and therefore the key to understanding all seven books. First she's part of Harry Potter's guard on the way to 12 Grimauld Place. Next, in Half-Blood Prince, she's dead, killed around the corner from the Muggle Prime Minister's office.

Aren't there about 10-15 characters in the books that are only mentioned once or twice? Could they ALL be clues?
I'm horrible at word games. I don't like these kinds of clues...;-(

I'd never thought that the drought of living might be what Dumbledore drank in the cave. Possible... Unless the draught works fast. I also think there is more to Emmeline Vance than meets the eye, and whoever pointed out that Dumbledore said to Harry he was sorry to hear about Madam Bones, but didn't mention Vance, was on to something.

I have to agree with the post that there is something about the name, "Emmeline Vance" that screams anagram. There are 3 obvious words that can be formed from this name: ALIVE and A LIE

Hello i have my own guessing what happen in book 7, i think that Wormtail play a enormous roll in book 7, because he still has a to pay to harry and he has a silver hand, then think harder, what is a werewolfs dislikes? i dont think gold or bronze but silver and on which side are the werewolfs, on you know who's side so i think maybe...
That Harry be attacked by a werewolf and that Peter resque him and maybe the werewolfs leader "Fenrir Greyback".
And about Severus's it is already happened in book 3. he "rescued" the dynamic trio from Lupin in werewolf form
dont know if it counts but it is something.

What do you think?

Wow Chris! I'm glad we can't get Nevil and evil at the same time though!

I really like the theories surrounding Emmeline Vance's name - although I fear we're neglecting something important, such as the fact that she likely has a middle name which would affect any anagrams.

think you are right that there something that is missing to complete the anagram like a middle name, most of the characters of Harry Potter have a middle name like harry james potter or tom marvolo riddle and many more.
