Dumbledore Is Not !
 by David Haber
Well... maybe not. At least, I don't think he is. Snape's betrayal and the of Dumbledore caught me completely by surprise. Dumbledore was , and on top of that, Snape had done it. And all of the clues point to two possibilities, that Dumbledore's not really , or at the very least, that Snape's not really a Eater, and he Dumbledore because Dumbledore ordered him to, as part of a grand plan.

Dumbledore's reaction to this is quite strange. "For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he say a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes". Mikey and Kevin It matters to me to let you know, that it would also completely upset me if Minerva McGonagall turned out to be a Eater or a mole! You did a very good job to pick to pieces the arguments which were brought up. Please go on defending her, she is an amazing character. The way she stood up against Dolores Umbridge was unique.
In almost the same manner I would go ballistic if Ron exposed himself as a turncoat. Each one of your examples was plausible! Have you watched PoA lately? If so, remember that scene where Harry screams: He was their friend? (Meaning young Sirius Black) It was only Hermione who comforted Harry, his best friend watched from afar!
Was that another foreshadowing piece JO talked about in the interview which can be found on the Extras? Also, Rons look in GoF after Harry has been chosen as the fourth Triwizard Champion! But to tell you the truth, I am more afraid that Ron is going to instead of being a traitor. Look at Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them... personally i was very shaken by the of dumbledore but what i was wondering is what happened to the pheonix? im thinking somthings going to happen with that because it didnt say that the pheonix d... and what about that fight dumbledorehad with snape that hagrid overheard? very mysterious... it mightve been that snape had told him about the Unbreakable vow and saying he was going to have to -but dumbledore told him to just him because... some bizarre reason Posted by Maggie from Antartica on January 1, 2007 10:03 AM
Has anyone considered that maybe Dumbledore and Snape switched bos? Isn't Polyjuice poition a large part of this book...also when Harry and Dumbledore are in the cave and Harry is pouring that poition into his mouth, Dumble says things like "no, dont them" etc etc...that sounds like what Snape would say to Voldemort about ing James and Lilly Potter (Doesn't Snape say he is very sorry for having told Voldy about the prophecy and sorry he in turn caused Harry's parents ). Even before they arrive at the cave, when Harry is in Dumbledore's office, he questions why Snape is so trustworthy. There is a line that goes somewhat like "Dumbledore looked as tho to consider telling Harry something"... also... If Dumbledore trusted Snape there had to be a serious reason to it...or maybe I'm reading too much into it... I just dont believe Dumbledore is . There are too many things that suggest he's alive! I was talking to a friend lastnight, D. Schuhardt, and here is HIS Theory on why Dumbledore IS NOT DEAD:
Think back to the beginning of HPB - when in Weasleys Joke Shop, George shows Harry a new line of Cloaks that can reflect smaller spells. He makes it clear that the cloak is BLACK, and the Ministry of Magic has already bought quite a few of them.
Now fast forward to the middle, and suddently we are told that Dumbledore is wearing a BLACK TRAVELING cloak. This is the first time we're told the colour of Dumbledores cloak. Also realize, that Dumbledore is still at least 1000x times stronger then Snape, and could have put a heavier "reflection" on that cloak, therefore deflecting the curse.
This seems semi-likely, since, Rowing never give us unnecessary information. Why then, tell us about those cloaks, then mention, for the first time in ANY OF THE BOOKS, what colour Dumbledore's was?

I'm sorry but I don't believe Dumbledore is alive...not many of these are likely reasons. And interviews point that Dumbledore is ...and did she not tell us before HBP came out that a character would ? Die not fake a ...although maybe she was trying to mislead us. As for Snape...I never believed he was good. I'm not trying to argue....just so frustrated about all these questions! I want that 7th book now! =) Posted by Taryn from Warwick,NY on January 1, 2007 4:05 PM
I also want to say I agree with Mistral that I also feel like Ron is going to ....just seems like Ron is the closest person he has left...and all of the people he loves always . His parents, Sirius, and (my opinion) Dumbledore. Posted by Taryn from Warwick,NY on January 1, 2007 4:09 PM
I doubt Dumbledore made a horcrux. First, Dumbledore ing someone? I refuse to believe he would someone. Second, horcruxs are EVIL. Dumbledore is the last person I would expect to rip his soul, even if as you say, his soul was so big it wouldn't matter. Posted by Taryn again from Warwick NY on January 1, 2007 4:30 PM

I know that it is an extremely miserable thing to believe that Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is . But if we want to predict the future events of Harry Potter and The ly Hallows then we have to consider this fact. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is not a kind of wizard who makes horcrux. Try to remember the very first conversation between the headmaster and Minerva McGonagall,in Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone, there Minerva says that to Albus that he is the one The Dark Lord fears but Albus says that The Dark Lord possess the powers that Albus could not, then McGonagall replies that Dumbledore is 'only too-well-noble to use them'. No one means NO ONE can stop the Avada Kadavra thing, not even the headmaster. But he was able to escape from that curse. Try to remember the duel between Albus and The Dark Lord there Dumbledore used Apparition and Disapparition to escape from The Dark Lord's curses. This makes it definite that Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore could have easily escaped from the Snape's curse but he did not and d with his own . The only one The Dark Lord ever feared has d because his work was finished. He directed Harry towards the path he has to walk on, now its up to Harry to walk on it. I definitely do not think that anyone on the good side made a horcrux. Not because it requires ing someone (we know that several respectable wizards had to do so). But because afterwards your soul becomes evil and nobody, except Dark Arts performers, would accept losing one's soul for the benefit of gaining a life.
I don't know whether Dumbledore is or not. But if he is, we can be sure that he appear again (at least through his numerous portraits) and help Harry. Dumbledore's power might be given to Harry in a lot of different ways: his knowledge and memory (that he reveal to Harry as soon as he is able to close his mind to Voldemort), Fawkes (he knows who remains fidel and has a very strong power), his office at Hogwarts with the silver instruments (this office probably get unaccessable to anyone until Dumbledore decides to open it).
Indeed, even , Dumbledore might be much more central in book 7 than he was in the previous ones. Posted by herve from strasbourg, france on January 2, 2007 04:13 AM
Herve You write "his office at Hogwarts with the silver instruments (this office probably get unaccessable to anyone until Dumbledore decides to open it)."
Oops...I think you slipped here, because Harry and Professor McGonagall already entered Dumbledore's office shortly after his ! Turn to Chapter Twenty-Nine "The Phoenix Lament".
While rereading that part, I "took in" for the very first time that Dumbledore's "Silver instruments" were still whirring and puffing, even though the Headmaster had gone! I wonder if that is significance. Posted by Mistral from Switzerland on January 2, 2007 08:35 AM

I seriously doubt that Minerva McGonagall is a Eater. She did arrange for Harry to play Quidditch and he was extremely young at the time, but it was clear to McGonagall that Harry had inherited a talent for Quidditch (and McGonagall being an enthusiastic Quidditch fan, would have a good knowledge of the game).
Although Quidditch is a rough game, it's not commonplace for players to and with Dumbledore and the majority of the staff watching the matches, it would be difficult to arrange an 'accident' (Quirrell atempted this, but failed -but to be fair, being under Voldemort's control wouldn't have made him the most rational wizard alive and so he risked it anyway).
There are also the subtle references throughout the book, regarding McGonagall. She was upset when Harry's parents were ed, she had a tear in her eye when Hermione was petrified, she regretted that she was on occasion stern with Pettigrew. These are not over the top gestures that you might expect from a 'double-agent'. McGonagall wasn't pleased that Harry had to participate in the Tri-wizard tournament and this was an excellent opportunity to dispose of Harry.
I've also read some comments regarding the fact that McGonagall isn't always included or informed of plans. I suspect that this is because Dumbledore knows that Minerva would be against endangering people (and especially students) regardless of their talent, bravery or potential. Sometimes I almost think that McGonagall is Dumbledore's conscience. Although he is wise, he does allow himself and others (eg Harry) to put themself at risk (when the situation requires it). I suspect that if she were aware of them, McGonagall would be more inclined to try and talk Dumbledore out of such plans.
Obviously Dumbledore cares greatly for his friends, staff and students, but perhaps he is worried that by involving McGonagall in all planning, he might be encouraged to take the safer course of action, rather than looking at the big picture. Dumbledore is his own man, but i think that he has great respect for McGonagall and would listen to her opinions and advice seriously. Posted by Damien from Plymouth, UK on January 2, 2007 09:14 AM
