Dumbledore Clues
 by David Haber
These are some of the clues contained in the pages of Harry Pottter and the Half-Blood Prince which support the possibility that Dumbledore is not really , or at least Snape Dumbledore on Dumbledore's orders, and that everything that happened that night was planned well in advance by Dumbledore himself.

When Harry was fighting snape, Harry tries to cast crucius and Snape blocks him saying he didn't want Harry to use curses. Posted by Zeons from Lisbon,Portugal on January 15, 2007 07:07 AM
I really don't think that we have heard the last from Dumbledore, and I do think that Snape is on the good side.
I find it perplexing that Dumbledore used to be the transfiguration teacher and yet we have never "seen" him transform. My guess is that he can tranform into more that one animal. I've had my suspicions about him being a fly or a bee--Harry has seen those flying near him at Hogwarts---maybe a spider too? Lots of those everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if he could be a phoenix, as well.
Another thing that I think we need some closure on is that Dumbledore discovered 12 uses for dragon blood, and I don't believe we have even been told even one use. Correct me if I am wrong---I have read the books numerous times, and i don't recall any reference. Posted by Heather from NJ on January 16, 2007 6:25 PM

Heather, I'm with you concerning the dragon blood. In H.B.P. Dumbledore helps Slughorn clean up his home after Slughorn tried to evade Dumbledore by faking an attack. While cleaning up, Dumbledore notices blood on the wall and questioned as to what type of blood it is. Slughorn replies that it is dragon blood and it's hard to come by and hopes it's not contaminated. I wonder if Dumbledore was able to take advantage of this dragon blood in his plans yet to be revealed. Also Slughorn has Aragog's venom. What happens when one combines the two? We don't know what the 12 uses of dragon blood are although we do know that Hermione stud them in her first year. It would even be possible for there to be a 13th use for dragon blood that Dumbledore never published. I must admit, I don't have a clue as to how this contribute to ly Hallows. Any thoughts?
Also I've always been on the lookout for a bumblebee in the books thinking it would be a transfigured Dumbledore. I learned that Dumbledore means bumblebee and J.K. thought of Dumbledore as hymming up and down the Hogswarts halls like a buzzing bee. I have also picked up Harry noticing a bee but there was no "eureka" for me. Anyone? Posted by Mikey from New Jersey on January 16, 2007 10:02 PM

Great job on the website! I enjoyed all the articles.
My first "gut" reaction when I read that Dumbledore was hit with the ing curse was "He's not ." I did not have the emotional reaction I would have expected, had I believed Dumbledore had actually d.
Immediately I had to go back and re-read several pages to see why I "felt" this way, because I was surprised at my "He's not ." reaction. I decided what had been in the back of my mind was that this was not the real Dumbledore, or that he had done something magical to protect himself in advance from the curse.
The conversation Dumbledore had with Draco on the tower made me wonder..... Draco says "But she said you were just going for a drink, you'd be back..." Dumbledore says "Well, I certainly did have a drink...and I came back...after a fashion," What does he mean by "after a fashion?" I suppose it could mean that he came back in diminished capacity. But, could it also mean that he is not the real Dumbledore? Draco says "We decided to put the Dark Mark over the tower and get you to hurry up here, to see who'd been ed," "And it worked!" Dumbledore says "Well...yes and no..." I wondered if that answer also implied that he was not the real Dumbledore.
I realize that it could all be wishful thinking on my part, I dont want Dumbledore to be , therefore I am grasping for another answer. Im glad to see that I am not alone in this!
I've read so many comments about why Dumbledore would not fake his own , but it seems to me, that he would fake his own , despite the pain it would cause Harry when he learned about it later. The benefits of the deception would be worth what Harry would suffer, if Voldemort were defeated in the end and Harry were to survive.
The benefits of the ruse are many. If everyone thought him , Dumbledore would be free to do his work without the Ministry always trying to follow him whenever he left the school. Also, Voldemort would not be holding this over Draco's head anymore and Draco would no longer be a threat to others at the school. And, of course, it's always an advantage for your enemy to believe you are , when you are not. It makes sense to me that he would fake his own for those reasons and many others.
But, with JKR saying he is really and not coming back in Gandalf fashion, I'm afraid he might be truly and I eventually have to get past the denial stage and actual "feel" my grief.:( Be that as it may, Im ing to hold off on that final determination until book 7!;)
I do believe Dumbledore ordered Snape to do the job. The reason I believe that is that Snape could have easily ed Harry when Harry was chasing him out of the castle, and he doesn't. He doesn't even hurt him really. If Snape had just ed Dumbledore, and he was really evil, he would have ed Harry, to get even with James, the first chance he got. Therefore, I still think Snape is actually loyal to Dumbledore.
Hope I am right about that much! Posted by Kimberley McClard from Kuna, Idaho on January 22, 2007 11:35 PM
zeon, actually, if you recall, he said, "no unforgivable curses from you till you learn to keep your mouth shut, and your mind closed" well, thats what it says in my book Posted by David from south windsor, connecticut on January 23, 2007 07:08 AM
very persuasive article, but i just had a thought, what if dumbledore pulled a merlin. he didnt totally come back from the , he really did , but because of the unrequenting love of harry, dumbldore live on in the memories of, "those who remain faithful to him" Posted by David from south windsor, connecticut on January 23, 2007 07:10 AM
actually kimberly, you did not read the part where dolohov uses the cruciatus curse on harry, and snape says, "NO, leave him, he is for the dark lork to deal with". while i agree with you. that part in and of itself does not prove snapes allegiance to dumbledore, the clues to it are overwhelming. Yes, David you are right, that is what happens in my book too. But, I was thinking that Snape had to say something to the Eaters, so he says what he knows make them back off.
Your point about what Snape said to Harry also supports my belief, because Snape was still acting like a teacher. Even in this moment of running away, he is goading Harry about his poor performance in learning Occlumency. Something he no doubt need for what is to come.
And yes, the fact that Snape didn't Harry, all by itself is not proof, but to me, considering the pure hatred that Snape had for James, had he been fooling Dumbledore the entire time, I think that he would have taken his chance to Harry. So, that is strong evidence to me that he was under Dumbledore's orders to do it.
I was telling my friend today how wonderful it is to see kids from all around the world, having so much fun working on solving a mystery from a book, instead of sitting in front of a TV. That's an amazing accomplishment that earns JKR my highest esteem.:) As a mother, it makes me thrilled. All four of my boys, from my oldest, who is 23 and a Marine Corp. Sergeant, to my youngest of 12 years old, are all Harry Potter fans, and so am I. That doesn't happen very often! I be sad when there are no more Harry Potter books to look forward to and share with my children. Posted by Kimberley McClard from Kuna, Idaho on January 23, 2007 6:44 PM
glad to know that i am not the only teenage obsesive harry potter fan. Posted by David A from south windsor, connecticut on January 24, 2007 04:18 AM
hey in the 4th harry potter book near the end in the chapter called something like the parting of the ways didnt dumbledore mention an important job he had for snape? and then snapes face went pale? Posted by Anonymous on January 24, 2007 5:34 PM
Quite right, Anon. It's in the hospital wing. Dumbledore didn't even have to spell out what it was. Snape knew. He had to return to Voldemort and convince him that he was still a faithful Eater. And if he went pale it could well have been because he wasn't entirely confident that he could pull it off. He could have been going to his . Me and my mom do a harry potter pretending, where we pretend to be normal students at hogwarts, and in the pretending hogwarts is practically the same to harry's hogwarts, despite it being set several years in the future, harry whooped voldemort and is one of the best aurors, and hermione is a spell tester for the ministry. We made up that snape lacked the intent to (like you suggest) and that thus dumbledore survived. Posted by Micool from Brisbane, Queensland on January 25, 2007 03:07 AM
