Alexandre Desplat to compose Deathly Hallows Part I

 According to Film Score Monthly, French composer Alexandre Desplat will score Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. Desplat has scored films including The Golden Compass and New Moon. Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince composer Nicholas Hooper said he decided not to return to the series due to family commitments.

I would have loved for John Williams to return, but I hope that Desplat's score fit DH Part I. I'm not familiar with his work, apart from the Golden Compass soundtrack, which I'm not too fond of because I think it sounds bland, but I don't want to judge his music on the only bit I've heard. I loved John William's work for HBP very much. Especially the theme were Dumbledore and Harry are standing on that rock facing the cliffs. Very well done. I am not familiar with any of the films Desplat composed the music for, so I can't judge on his work, but hopefully it be fitting.
